No, I have used peroxide directly in the tank to target kill algae. Peroxide won't harm your fish in reasonable levels ( again, if you can drink it it should be fine ). Are you completely replacing filter pads every week? Rinsing them in dechlorinated tap-water?

Nitrates at 10 is pretty acceptable as a base level. You may find yourself doing an extra water change a week to keep them where you want them (I don't like nitrates higher than 20 in my own tank) but nothing to worry about. Certainly not necessary to go down the R/O route.

Yeah sounds okay to me as well. Maybe add some crushed coral to your tank/ sump/ filter to buffer the pH a bit, but otherwise they're within acceptable range.
