I'll try to get another vid of the shrimp things, and yes, I did get your friend request, i just have to check mah U-tube mail lol

The little shrimp look a lote like Diporeia, so that's cool, right? I'm assuming my fish will destroy the entire population though... may move them (if I can catch any) into my 10gal or something. Now I know more though, they probably arent Diporeia more likely to be some cousin of that shrimp species... but man, they look identical.

ya, your probably right about the diporeia. i think its a type of plankton found in the great lakes. it serves as a food source for many other fish. but zebra mussels and quagga mussels are whiping them out. :(

The skirt is, by some twisting of fate, still alive! Bittersweet moment there, because I was sort of hoping the poor critter would be dead... I can't buy him friends until he's cured of ick, and that means he'll be alone for a while yet. Sort of hoping he still dies, would make my life easier.... but I musn't feel that way, he's just a poor sick fish. If he makes it he'll get his school of 5 more, and they will be the first fish in the tank. Okay, that's my update :)

One word for you. Python.

They are life savers. I have a 25 foot one that I hook up to my kitchen sink and it works beautifully, makes water changes a breeze. Best $30 I ever spent on my aquariums.

Thanks, I'll try it out!

Okay, so the skirt was dead (small blessing) and is now fertalizer for my garden. The tank will have to wait for a few days until I can stock it, but I get paid tonight for the first time (YAYS!) so I'll money to do the stocking.
