Fish Shed Build Thread!

That stuff looks like its crazy cheap - does it work well??? OR I guess I should ask, let us know how it works for ya - lol.

Arkangel77

Changed my mind and ordered 2 liters of Pond Prime for $37. Is 2X concentrated compared to regular Prime, 2 liters treats 40,000 gallons.

Thanks for telling me - I got some prime and I have not used it Before so its a HUGE improvement than the stuff I used in the past. I am moving away from my RO and I am now in need of this kinda stuff. Regular prime seems like it will work great for me! Thanks, Arkangel77

Ok, haven't updated in a while. The shed is still running, I think the only additions have been 4 angels, two black and 2 striped, and the clown killies are dead except for one. That sux.

Hey swank, stuck to ya thread bud! Thinking of the same sort o deal but in block n stucko, gonna have to insulate well as its freezin hear in wales in winter. Was thinking of one huge loop of trickle filter. I heard disease can be spread this way, do I need different loops for different fish ? Very jelous, seriously subscribed.

Hey, I'm finally updating again! We had a computer crash and I'm on a new one now, but we had to find a cable to connect the camera cuz this one doesn't have a card reader (it was 120$).

Progress includes:
-Drain system! Now I will ALMOST never have to carry buckets again, for the tanks in the shed anyways, except maybe to take hot water out in the winter time. The system is made of 1.5" ABS pipe, all glued together and everything. There are two drains on the main rack so that anything above them can be siphoned down, I'll need to find a pump for draining lower tanks, or I can siphon them out the door onto the ground, but I like to reuse the water in my garden. The drain runs out thru the wall, there is a trap (to prevent air, critters, whatever from coming in) and a vent so that if it plugs up down the line it will overflow there instead of inside the shed. I still need to go get some more pipe and smaller indidvidual lines to complete the output section. Also I want to make some PVC safety syphons, the hook shaped kind that only drain half the water, I forget where I saw those, but it looks like a good idea, plus then I can drain multiple tanks without having to watch each one.

-New rack! This one was designed to hold 4 20longs in full view, and is secured to the wall. Petsmart had a sale on Saturday and I got two more 20longs to complete this rack for 25$each, hard to beat that on CL, and you don't have to drive to who knows where! I also got two 10s on sale too. The only inhabitants of this rack are a mated pair of convicts. So far they have laid I think 5 seperate clutches of eggs, and at about the third of fourth day, they eat them ALL. Anybody know what might be causing this? At first there where 5 in the tank, and both pairs laid, then ate eggs, so I figured it might be stress, now they're alone, and still eating their eggs. Another tank has some plants and gravel that I got from a local lake.

I also made my first tank! it's an 8x8x10tall 2.5gal, no trim. Cost about 10$ for 5 8x10 glass panes from HD, had the silicone already. I only had to cut one peice for the bottom. It's occupied by a bunch of cherry shrimp, some tiny ones too. No filter yet, but daily water changes. I need to figure out something that won't ruin the clean look of this tiny tank, preferably air powered too. Anybody ever made a tiny airpowered canister filter? Actually I have an idea formulating... I might try it.

I always forget the pictures...

more,
I think they're all pretty self explanitory...
those are about 50-100 guppy fry in the one picture, a whiptail cat, convict, angels, bolivian rams, GBRs, corys, etc.
