Fragging Demo

Clubs and swaps are good times indeed! I belong to six clubs both FW and SW.

Keep in mind guys when you get frags you get their tank with them...meaning any flatworms, nudibranchs, bryopsis, Acro Eating Flat Worms(AEFW), etc...

If you don't have a separate QT for 30 days then make sure you have a strong L.E.D. Light and a magnifying glass. Dip the corals in a strong SW/iodine solution backed uo with 5-8 drops of Flatworm Exit for 15 minutes and then inspect every inch of the frag, top, bottom, sides!!! Look for nudis, egg ribbons, egg clusters, algae clumps, flatworms of any kind, etc!!! This is paramount for your tank. I go to close to 30 swaps a year and always see contaminated corals. Sellers/traders are usually not aware. Red bugs are another issue with SPS guys.

Just a friendly reminder to all, inspect and dip your corals wether you got them at your LFS or a Fragswap!

I did do an interceptor bath but yeah, I need to get a QT tank for inverts and corals. Trying to figure out the best small set-up that I can add proper lights to for SPS and clams. My QT for fish has had copper so that is a no go.

Thanks for the heads up Firemouth! The folks at the demo dipped them ... crap I forget the name of it now ... but they told me it would kill the pests that you mentioned above. The folks were really knowledgeable and thorough ... but I certainly will keep it in mind at future swaps where I don't see that the frags have been treated.

Aww c'mon...giant cow birthing rubber gloves, a red LED headlamp headband and you're talking Borat sexy time look.

... and don't forget the dorky scientist glasses!! Talking about the red LED lamp, I really need to get one of those (that you posted a while back) ... neat little gadget that will let me snoop in on the nigh-time activities in the tank!
