SO, I set up my 75 gallon reef tank almost a year ago. I thought it was weird that my am. nitrate, ph and everything literally mantained perfect. Not one spike, ever. Anywho, the last few months its been getting cloudy, and the last week the water is turning very green. NOW, the last 3 days, I can barely see anything in my tank cause my water is so green !

I've done a boat load of water changes, reduced the lighting, nothing works. My water per. are still perfect. I cannot keep my lights off any longer because I have lots of corals including anenomes.

What is the lighting you currently have? How long is your lighting period? and is it in direct sunlight?

It simply sounds like an algae bloom which can eradicated by starving it at source. Algae needs water, light and nutrients to survive, so we have to pin point which of the above is out of whack and starve the algae from it.

What are your current water params for Nitrate and Phosphate aswell please...

i had my light on for several hours a day due to my reef , coral, etc. Thats what i'm assuming the problem is. But, since I have my light off for a few days now, my reef isn't doing that good, my anenomes are constantly moving around to try and find light. I do add calcium and iodine, but nothing else.

What kind of water do you use? RO/DI? If so, have you checked the media?

Have you tested for phosphates BEFORE the water goes in the tank?

What kind of bulbs do you use, and when was the last time they were replaced?
 
I'm taking the blind guess of old bulbs
 
bulbs were bought and replaced 10 weeks ago... i have 2 strips sun coral brand 48" each actinic 420 nm 36 watts eachso a total of 72 watts.
