Frustrated Green !

a test kit, I tested it at 8 am ( my water ) i wrote it all down, at 10 i went to the store with a sample, the test came back as my results, so my test kit isnt bad

What's the product that he sold you?
Does it say on the bottle that it's suitable for use in sw?
Does it claim to be reef safe?

Since you have other tanks can you move your corals to those other tanks and then put this one through a no photo period like for a week?

I think that along with some good RO/DI water changes will alleviate your problem.

And just for the record, testing your water in the tank when you are having an algae problem is completely pointless. The algae is going to be using the nutrients in the water in order to sustain themselves. Thats why when you see people posting things about LHA or other algae outbreaks 99% of the time their parameters are wonderful. You need to have your input water tested period.

Algae will not grow without the presence of three things. Light, Phosphates and Nitrates. The easiest to eliminate is phosphates through the use of RO/DI water.

You have stated before that you have tested your input water for phosphates and didn't find anything, and I'm not saying this to be mean or hurt your feelings but I find that hard to believe. You use well water, or at least thats what you stated several posts ago, and are the first person I have ever heard of that doesn't have phosphates in their well water.

Using whatever your LPS gave you is only a bandaid to your problem. While I strongly believe that it is the water from your Rots that contaminated your system algae once in a system will continue to grow until you eliminate one of the things they need to survive.

yeah i'll probably have to move them to another tank. I test my water when I add the salt mixture and aqua safe, after it sits for 2 days, then i test it, then add it to my tank and yes, no phosphates.

hey, 4 hours ago, my friend brought me over some clams, i threw them in the water and it seems its getting alot clearer... you think this will fix my problems ?

Clams do eat phytoplankton.. So yes it could help.. But I don't know if they will eat enough fast enough. I guess only time will tell.

well i have 12 clams in there now and in 2 days shes bringing 12 more over and a limpet, which i guess is a great feeder too

i thought i'd do a follow up. My tank still has a green tint to it, but not that bad. I ended up doing a 70% water change, and i'm keeping the lights on for only a couple of hours, seems to be working, but slowly.
