Scored two of these cuties from local chain store that had them mixed with their Chinese algae eaters.

Look similar to true siamese algae eaters, but markings on dorsal fin, different mouth shape, lateral stripe ends at the tail, and bold golden line above the dark line.

Theyre tiny babies right now, so growing them out in one of my smaller tanks for now, but these two are destined for my 135g once big enough to not be eaten.

And pic at the store!

Super stoked to find these surprise fish. Not a common find here. Really neat little fish, should be at home in the 135g with the powerhead in there and the river-like setup.

It pays to know some fish is "different" than listed. Cool find! I like the yellow dorsal & big eyes, pretty babies!

The only garra I've kept are pandas, they were awesome fish!

Occasionally I see a lfs get in garra rufa and panda garra. These guys this is the first I've ever seen them and immediately caught on they weren't what they were mixed in with. And they looked different than the usual siamese algae eaters (which are another super cute fish, especially as juveniles!)

Ive been dabbling on the idea of eventually adding in something else to the 135 once the livebearers were all gone (I am down to my last 2 now), guess these guys are it lol

Ive liked the other common garra species ive seen, really interesting fish. So these guys was a no brainer to grab while I could. For only $4.99 each too, so real good bargain.

Luckily from what I've read they're not too too bad to be kept either solo or small groups, compared to SAE who really do love their own kind around.

A friend of mine locally piggy backed an online order with me and they got some SAE I held for a couple days until they could pick them up... easy to fall in love with them. They're very underrated fish imo. Sure can clean algae if needed, but just a really cool active fish. But hers would group together in one big group and it was so cute watching them hover around.

These two so far have been checking out the rocks in their temporary tank. They will stay until they're too wide to fit in the goldfish mouthes lol.

This is the other guy, he's a bit smaller. Also shyer.

Theyre just so cute! Really like how they use their wide fins to rest on things. Where have these guys been my whole life???

This guy is the more dominant of the two, he chases the other from time to time but stays pretty tame. He's put out a lot of colour too.

This is the skinnier guy, in these photos he's really fattened up already. Still thin, but he's got a fat belly now and he eats well.

I have to say, these guys are just really delightful fish to watch. Very active and they move so differently compared to other fish.

I meant to comment on their nice coloring, especially after seeing just how small they are with cherry barbs in the previous set of pics. The orangey eye color is even better now! & you know I love whiskery fish faces :D

Yes!! The whiskers are starting to be more noticeable!

The store had 2 more last week but the tank isn't for sale right now because of illness. So had to miss out. Shame, theyre very unusual to find.

Theyre fairly fiery these little guys. More would be great to disperse that. Especially since they shoal in the wild too.

You have kept garra in the past, different species, but garra none the less. Would you say they'd fare okay with another species of garra worst scenario? Sometimes local stores have panda garra and garra rufa, but have never once seen garra cambodgiensis.

Once they're about 3" I plan to scoot them into their home with the goldfish, nice big tank for them with goldfish and hoplos.
