Does anyone know of any test kits for saltwater that don't rely on color or any that are more precise in the color variances? None of the tests I have used are accurate, its more like I'm guessing which color is closest. Like the Ph test on Red Sea's Marine Lab kit for instance... Ph color for 8.0 is a greyish purple and the color for 8.2 is a little less greyish purple... Confusing!!!

with just a quick search i found that aqua medic do a ph controler WITHOUT sensor for £300 and the sensor is another £100 dont know if u can get them cheaper

pH test kits are pretty hard to read accurately. I use an American Marine PinPoint pH monitor instead of messing with the test kits. Yes, it's a bit pricier than buying test kits (on sale for $78.19 at the moment online), but as long as it is properly maintained / calibrated (very simple tasks) it is easier to use and more accurate.

Your only alternatives are photometers, colorimeters, and some monitors, all of which get pricey and sometimes have questionable accuracy.

on thing that helps is place the test tube on something white, like the colour card your reading from and look straight down into it. move it up and down along the card and the colours will appear much better than looking throught the tube horizontally. if your already doing this, then thats about as good as it gets heheh

Find a woman that has 4 types of cones in the eye rather than 3 like 99.9% of humans. The fourth cone gives them much greater color perception. I'm married to one and she can tell color differences very well... she's also a trained artist.

That's all I got.
