Don't know where in NC you are, but I have a friend who is a grounds manager of a golf course. Are you anywhere near the St. James GC ? If not, there are many golf courses near you, how 'bout a job at one of those ? At the golf course I work at here in Mass., we hire many high school kids for the summer. They rake bunkers, weed wack, landscape stuff mostly. Good luck !!

So let's encourage the boy to committ a crime by getting paid under the table:)JOKING, JUST JOKING......I am sure there is a way to make some money in your area. You have to be willing to get up and go find it though it's not going to just fall into your lap.

Actually, as long as there is no local law against it, he can do summer work. Its not under the table for him, he is under 18, and technically, if he worked, would be due all his taxes back...?

As some who has had their own dog kennel, breeding areas etc, find people who need the lawns cleaned. You wont have to spend money on gas. Just rubber gloves and recycled grocery bags. And people will pay $$ not to have to pick up dog droppings!

If you live where someone raises horses, mucking out stalls is a good job that pays too. Look for jobs the average person does not like doing. Not sure where you are, but if near Simpsonville let me know.

It would depend on how much money he earned if he would get all his federal tax money back and his states tax if they have one would come into play as well

I'd advise you get a tank and get it cycled before you start asking for free fish, if it's going to be a month before you get a tank, it'll be another few weeks to a month before it cycles.

It is hard when you are too young to work. Been there, Done that. Most of us have. Except those born with a silver spoon in their mouth or parents that fork over money anytime they ask.

No it isn't easy but you will learn the value of working and earning money. One of the ways to acquire aquariums and equipment is to look on "FreeCycle" in your area or "Craigslist". To date I have picked up enough filters to put 2 or more on all my aquariums! I put up a "Wanted" notice and responded to "Offer: Aquarium stuff" I have also picked up 2 - 55's and a 90gallon.

Even when they say the tank is cracked I take it as I can save the good glass for lids and the frames for any that have cracked ones. They also might come with equipment or decor.

I think we ran luckydud off with our logical answers to his requests for handouts. Bet he's sorry by now that he asked. Well luckydud - you are lucky indeed that those of us on the forum care enough about your future to tell you all these things - what we're telling you, the mindset you need to create, and the "thinking outside the box" is all worth SO much more than any fish or fish related product could ever be!

Have you ever heard the old addage "give a man a fish and you fed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for life"? Well it's true. Once you learn to pull yourself up with your own bootstraps as the saying goes, your life is truly on track from that point on. We all care - that's why we're bombarding you with wisdom.
