Thanks for the search, Jodi! I haven't had time to do much posting today.

I'm going to see what I can come up with to back up what Jodi has.

It's no problem at all. I figure it's the least I can do considering how much support you guys have given me in the past few months! I didnt even know about testing water when I first came here.

I didnt really do any extensive searching, that is really the first thing I came across about that problem so more searching might come up with more answers. I just really feel bad for that fish, especially after seeing the pic.

Nod :)

I'm waiting for koivet.com to authorize my registration -- taking forever -- and will post there and ask what the best treatment is and what, if any, complications may arise from this injury. I'm going to link back to this thread, so it's possible that someone from there may jump in here.

i would say you are messing with the fish too much even though the intentions are good. Leave it alone in its q tank, continue doing water change and feed.

Do not take it out of the tank for a few hrs, do not add any stuff to the water, do not try to "fix" his eye. Give it a few weeks and see what happens.

The most important thing is keeping the water clean. Also what kind of brand/model filters you have exactly? Intank filters are usually for small tanks. So unless the two carbon filters hobs are big enough, you probably should upgrade filtration as goldfish are very messy.

You guys are GREAT. Thanks for your searches! I was advised from another forum to cut the rest off....What do you think? He is in his little house but boy does he want out! He is still eating well but I dont want him to injure his, now open, side of his face.

No, don't do that. Let's see what koivet has to say. For the time being keep him QT'd and his water clean, clean. Most likely it will just heal on its own with some scarring.

I'm still waiting for authorization from koivet. Sheesh! ;)

OK.....I will wait.

Ammonia .10-.15 still
Nitrite 0

good find on the bubble info jodi :)

all I could think of was to keep him in QT and give some melafix to help heal the wound, so I'm glad other folks are chiming in. hopefully koivet will have some helpful information :)

I still have not had an authorization from koivet. Rather frustrating.

I've re-registerated with another name and a different email account, though I doubt it will make a difference.

Regardless, I think keeping his water clean should be all the help the goldie will need, really.

I appriciate you trying.......I wonder why their system is so slow???

Today some of the redness is turning white...the bubble is completely gone now. He dosent seem to be in distress. He is swimming around and still has a hearty appitite. It realy looks like he just wants to go play, (he is still in his house). I am going to change out some more water today and keep a close eye on him. I do think he has recovered from the bad water....convulsions have completely stopped :)

hey Im sorry about your fish :( ... i just read your post.. thats sad..
