High Court Ends Death Penalty for Youths

More surprisingly enough, study-by-study has shown that religious folk are more supportive of the death penalty than the non-religious. Also, conservatives seem to surpass liberals in terms of who supports the death penalty. I somewhat agree with what you stated, Tomm - with the exception that your body is yours, and you have the right to do with it as you see fit. I just do not see how we humans should have the right to decide whom lives and who dies.

It is just ironic, being that the ultra-religious are all about "non-judgement" and all... ;)
Wow, most of the religious folks I know are all about the judgement... Final judgement. I think it's easier to rationalize a death penalty for someone who believes in a supreme benig who will render correct judgment on a person's soul despite the fact that the person tried and found guilty might have been incorrectly judged on earth. If the courts made a mistake, surely God won't, if you follow me.

Unfortunately the link no longer works Spartan. That wouldn't be the one where the two crackheads starved their son to death would it? And the idiot judge said that they had suffered enough and therefore didn't need a stiffer sentence? I was driving my car when I heard that one. I nearly killed myself.
I didn't read most of the posts in that thread, you not telling me that someone actually agreed with the judge are you?

I don't want to start a religoius debate, but do want to point out that the religious element that supports the death penalty believe that there is Biblical basis for it, and the element that opposes it also believe they have Biblical basis for their viewpoint.

Link works fine for me. But fyi, no, it was about the couple of foster parents in Ontario who were carng for their two nephews after their parents passed away. They would beat the kids and either chain them up in their room or keep them in a small makeshift cage. They frequently didn't feed them for days or even provide them with water to drink. Children's aid finally got a tip from a concerned teacher or principal. The couple got 5 years.
