I am lucky because my fishes are friendly they are not fighting ..hehehehe
thanks again guys!

:wall:

Ok, I'm done posting. Good luck! I'll keep an eye out for the future "My fish are dying" thread.

Hey tonie. The snails you asked us about are really a secondary issue. As you can already see from the advice offered by many experienced fishkeepers, the snail population you have now is a real good indication of overstocking, overfeeding, and (possibly) insufficient tank maintenance. You seem to also have some compatibility issues to consider. But all of this is real easy to control. As you keeping learning, just like the rest of us try to do... you're going to get tremendous results and know you're providing the best care possible for your new fish.

There's a lot of expertise here that many people are willing to share as a way of just helping out. We were all facing the same challenges when we got started ourselves.

Whatever other questions you might have about this, don't hesitate to ask about. Best of luck with everything!

As many as you want. Some people grow them on purpose as food or bundle them up by the hundreds even to sell off to puffer people.

I was just asking, because everyones jumping on the OP about everything but snails. And I can't find anywhere saying how many snails are in the tank.

I find it easy for someone that doesn't care for having any snails, calling 20 baby pond or ramshorn many! When they could have easily been brought in as eggs on a plant, a week ago.
And have absolutely nothing to do with water quality, conditions in the tank, etc.

And now, I'm learning. That snails will just magically appear like nitrosomas bacteria?
...
...Unless you correct the underlying issues the problem will come right back though.

And I don't see what the major upset is about the stocking, in that tank?
Its almost a species tank.

The OP said they were happy.
How do we know those same fish haven't been happily living together for 5 yrs?
I personally don't care for Tiger barbs. But if the person says they're happy. I can't see me saying they're full of it. I just need to believe it, and get back to the magically appearing problem snails.

And I don't see what the major upset is about the stocking, in that tank?
Its almost a species tank.

The "upset" is due to the fact that I've kept fully mature Tiger Barbs and know that they need lateral room to swim. Tiger barbs don't school, they schoal. They are constantly bickering and jockeying for position in the hiearchy. A species tank has A species, not three.

I hope it's as simple as the snails showing up after a new plant was added, but I find it unlikely (call it a hunch). Without the OP adding detail or answering questions so that we can try to help, it's all sorta moot.

So really... you have had snails just appear out of no where?

I guess I learnt something today. I wish I would have known that a month ago, so I wouldn't have been buying plants and hoping for some. : /
