HR 669 : CONGRESSIONAL HEARING BANNING NONNATIVE SPECIES APRIL 23, 2009 ACTION NEEDED

I don't know. If this was implemented differently (though it's not practical funding wise and for many other reasons), it could actually be a benefit to our native wildlife. There's been horrible damage done by alien species (in addition to other human blunders of course). But on the other side, many states prohibit the ownership of native species. So what would there be to keep as pets??

Meh, it won't go anywhere. The pet industry employees too many people and generates too much money for the government to have something like this thing pass. With the economy the way it is, nobody in their right mind would let this pass. They would basically be putting thousands of people out of jobs.

If they ban all non native animals from the USA does that mean the removal of all non indigenous humans as well, I'll bet the Native Americans would appreciate getting their Country back even if it has been messed up by the White Man.
Humans have made far more mess of the Country than a few fish have but I do sort of see where they are coming from, non natives upset the balance usually decimating the native species, if Hobbyists are incapable of regulating theirselves then it will have to be done by Law for the good of the Environment.

Homo sapiens is not indigenous to the Americas. We're indigenous to Africa.

well nicely put clothahump, but the sad thing is a few group people by releasing their pets may just ruin the pet hobby for those who hasn't even done nothing wrong.
