I need help choosing a dog breed!

If you want a pedigree, an exceptionally healthy and ethically bred breed is a shih tzu. We had 6 in my house when I was growing up....they all lived past 15 years and they stay pretty small. Keep it clipped so it looks slightly less like a girlyman dog and no shedding. When you get a real dog you can feed the shih tzu to it too. Kidding aside they have great personality.

My shih-tzu pom mix is a great dog... And there are plenty of homeless shih-tzus... *hint hint*

In an apartment? are you nuts?

How about a Pomeranian?
This is Emmy. She weighs in at a whopping 3 1/2 pounds. She doesn't bark alot and as long as you keep her brushed she doesn't shed alot. She has very little grooming. Just around her privates. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. She is very loving and she was very easy to train.(I know every dog is different):)

this is josephas dad chefjames scott im looking over her shoulder and dang
i could make a mean stirfry with that dog jk lolololol

very nice looking dog

lab greyhound mixes ftw

from what i've read, greyhounds are pretty lazy dogs when they're in the house. as long as there's a dog park nearby (and the OP plans on using it often), it would be a good fit. there are plenty of greyhounds that need forever homes.

I don't think a child (no offense, Malorie) could handle a greyhound.. lol have you ever watched that on It Me Or The Dog with the GHs?
But with lots of exercise they are couch potatoes... But I'm not a big fan of dog parks.. All it takes is one instigator to start a pack mentality attack.. Yes, I'm paranoid with my dogs.

MUTTS
Go to the animal shelter, adopt a dog, save a life. It should have all it's shots and be fixed, and you can be pretty sure it's house-trained(unless they tell you otherwise), you can take it back if it doesnt work out, aadoption fees shouldnt be too high.

I have to agree with that... my dobe is from a shelter and is hands down the best dog I've ever met in my life. When I say obedient, obedient isn't even the word... when I first got her, she went to pee in the house... I said "ENT" and she stopped, I brought her out and it's been the only accident I've ever almost had. I've had her for 10 years and feel so lucky that I found her. She's as gentle as the day is long. Someone instilled major major training in her. There are so many that need homes, pure breeds as well as mixed's, and like mal said, if it doesn't work out, you can always take them back.

How bout a Japanese Chin? I need to look for dogs that:
*Are small
*Are Lazy
*Don't have special grooming needs
*Don't have special excersice needs
*Are quiet
*& Easy to care for.
