I need suggestions on stocking my 29 gallon tank.

The current stock would be rehomed before the restocking. The rainbows would just ablut max out the tank to have a school of 6. I don't think I want to limit myself to a school of fish with one showpiece fish.

no rams
no tetras
no danios
no cichlids
and then no bigger schooling fish cuz they take up too much room

well, have fun with your gouramis and bottom feeders, cuz thats all u have left lol?

Is your 29 gallon planted? Do they eat plants? I have rocks I can add to the tank to give them caves, but I am hoping to keep the majority of the tank planted. How many male/female do you keep?

Ooops, my bad, i didn't catch the current tank is planted. My A.D.D. must be kicking in again. :) Its rocks only.

It started as a planted, with Rasboras and Cories. But then I got the 135 gallon. :)

Rasboras or sepraes or red phantoms would be a nice contrast to the green plants.

I never said no cichlids. Cichlids is what I would prefer to do with this tank. I just don't know enough to narrow down my search to dwarf species. I can alway rehome the plants to my two other tanks if the main reason no one is suggesting or recommending cichlids is the current set up. I already have rocks I can make caves and rocky shoal areas out of.

The top one looks like a candidate. I wonder if it would get along with cichlids. More research to do. I am thinking I might give up on the planted tank in the 29 gallon since it isn't doing that well to begin with. I can always add the plants to my 10 and 75 gallon to fill them out.

Highgrovemanor and jpappy789 if I took out all the plants but my anubia nana and my widelov that are attached to driftwood, and I left the driftwood in and added rocky caves, and shoals could I do 2 male and 5 female Saulosi. Is it possible to have any other tank mates with them?

I am checking out the shell dwellers right now too.

Also take into account that a lot of bottom dwelling species (loaches, corys, etc.) also need schools and bingo!....you're down even more ;)

I don't know much about saulosi...ask in the african subforum.

Depends on the cichlids...it's a fairly large and diverse group. DG's could work with dwarf varieties but anything large or aggressive is a big no-no.

Anybody have experience with killifish. The pictures I see are fantastic, but I would like more first hand knowledge on their care. If I chose more than one varriety would I have to worry about inter breeding?
