Granny when and got me a fish for my new 150gallon tank but forgot what it was called
So any idea on what it called would help a lot

I can tell you it is a South American cichlid, but that is the end of my knowledge.

Well, I'd go so far as to say it's a male... but let's hear what Frank or somebody else says as to species. I'll just go with "pretty boy", lol. Nice fish!

i'm really not sure on this one but it looks like it could be Herichthys tepehua. Personally I agree with The camaro show that it is probably a hybrid and since there is no way to be sure without knowing the fish's origins, best to call it a hybrid if you decide to sell it to anyone, and probably best not to breed it.

My suggestion is repost this thread over at Monsterfishkeepers.com and let some of the experts there go to town. Let us know what they say about it, i'm curious myself
