Alright. after 3 months of trying to cycle my tank (because of stupiidty to begin with)

These are my final parameters...

NOw before you say "no man yur amonia is to high" I have a reasoning behind that. I used to use amo lock...ALOT when i was trying to cycle my tank and i heard from people on here and from my LFS that it will give you false readings because some tests just cant distinguish the 2 type of ammonia.

My amonia has MUCH MUCh higher than that. IF some of you remember form my other thread, you couldent even see throu the color. My nitrates have spiked high and came back down. ANd my amonia has been liek this for 2 weeks after several water changes.

My fish are happy and moving around and palying with each other. SO i think that that color for me is equivelant to 0ppm because of all the amo lock that i used.

SO im going to go ahead and get the fish i planned! Any comments?

Sheesh, 3 months is a very long time..Whatever you do, you have a lot of patience...Maybe adding Bio Spira in will knock that ammonia down if you indeed have the harmful ammonia rather than the false readings..

you will get a false reading either way since Ammo-Lock doesn't remove the ammonia, it just converts it to another form.

and using Bio-Spira now would be pointless after 3 months of patient waiting. if you had started with Bio-Spira, the fish could have been added the same day and a cycle done in less than a week, if not a few days. i say just do a water change and add the fish slowly but now so there is a source of ammonia for the bacteria.

Im slightly concerned why you have no nitrates if your tank is cycled and that's a false ammonia reading. Do you have a lot of real plants? It didnt look like it from the picture but obviously can't see the whole thing.

thats what i was thinking. unless you have live plants, or you have changed 100% in you last water change, you should have at least SOME nitrates.

BTW, what do you ahve in the tank right now?

I just have 2 neons (2 of there buddies got eaten(long story)) and a sunburst dwarf platty(his buddy also got eaten.

Also had a tiger barb. But moved it to my dads 55g.

About the nitrates. It used to be blood red when i tested it. But has since gone down to that.

ANd when i did water changes i did 50%.

I plan to get a dwarf gourmi, 4 more neons, an albnio brislte nose pleco. and an african dwarf froggy.

If your trying to cycle your tank why are you adding ammo-lock? You want the buildup of ammonina to "feed" the bacteria (Nitrosomonas, Nitrosococcus, and Nitrosospira ) you are trying to colonize. If you want to do a faster cycle, try a "fishless cycle", where you ADD ammonia to get the colony growing fast. The amount added is greater than a "fish cycle" would produce, so when its done you can add a decent amount of fish right away. Do a search on "fishless cycle" to get the whols story.

Dude whatever, he waited several months for his tank to cycle..If he adds, Bio Spira, his tank will cycle in a few days..Unless you want him to wait more months..That is up to him...And how do you know it is a false reading? Are you the authority? I guess so then, huh? You see, I dont listen to everyone a persons says...When you attack and give your opinion, it is not polite to attack and at like an authority...And yea, I been keeping fishes for 10 years and I do know what I am talking about...And also, I have three 55 gallon tanks running..So you can act like an authority all you want, I gave my opinion and you attacked it..

Do you have a cat litter box, birdcage, etc anywhere nearby? Urine that's sitting around "stewing" will generate a lot of ammonia. Ammonia is hydrophyllic- it heads straight for water. That's why cleaning ammonia hurts your eyes so quickly.
