julidochromis ornate and neolamprologus multifaciatus

Thanks and good luck with your project, keep us posted on photos..

I kept multi's and buescheri together in a 55 a few years back. Also had some Paracyp's for a while, but sold them off. Rockpiles on each end for the buescheri, gold-mouth turbo shells and barnacle clusters in the middle for the multi's. They all spawned and lived together quite well, then I broke my hip and couldn't get down to the basement for a couple months. Somewhere in that time the heater died and I lost all the cichlids in the tank, but the Synodontis petricola are still with me.

I have a group of multi's in the 220 now, just spotted a couple wee fry last night. Different breed of buescheri too, Zaire gold this time around. They seem more outgoing than the other ones, those mostly stayed out of sight back among the rocks. The Zaire are a bit more colorful and less reclusive, one (looks like, but remains to be seen) young pair like to rush the multi's at feeding time. The multi's duck for cover but don't seem too stressed, and certainly aren't missing any meals.

Yep my Multi's are breeding and doing just fine in my 120gal with the others..

I actually expected the spiny eels to snatch any substrate-spawner eggs before they had a chance to hatch. After a closer look last night I spotted 3 different sizes of multi fry, the smallest just barely free-swimming. Apparently the eel/s missed some, though I did see the plagiostoma raiding shells last week.

Was going to open a new thread but since this was one i created already and is same subject as im curious about now i figured id use this one again. Im now in a different house with a slightly bigger and longer tank, now have a 130g longer tank as opposed to the 110 tall i originally created this post for. My new curiousity goes along the lines of original fish + 1....Now that i have a longer tank, with a few more gallons im wondering and hoping this setup can work. Two types of shellies(multis and ocellatus) and juli ornatus -- if i was to set up two shell piles/areas on opposite ends of the tank with rock piles/formation in the middle, would these 3 fish be able to happily live together?

130gal sounds like it should, just do the two shell fields on each side and rocks in the middle awesome..

Great, ive been looking around at different shells and it seems quite a few people have chosen to use escargot shells...will these be good for multis and ocellatus?
