Just gotta vent

I SOOOOOO AGREE!!!!!!!!

My friend joined this site and now HATES it because she has 2 danios and a tiger barb in a 5 gallon and people say "Take them back! They're going to DIE if you keep it that way!" and she was a bit offended. I LOOOOVE YOU Siren!

People, when someone asks if their tank is overstocked or un-compatable, don't say "THEY'RE GOING TO DIE!" but say "that stocking isn't the best idea because...." I know how it feels because when my friend feels bad, I feel bad!

THANK YOU SIREN!

You have hit my pet peave about this or any forum. As I have frequently posted, I have always preferred gentle, non-judgemental guidance to flaming. It can be hard to stop and think about what you are saying when you are in the heat of a conversation. However, when you have the luxury of collecting your thoughts and typing a response, there is no excuse for obnixious comments. If you made a mistake, how would you like to be treated?

Here are some rules I try to post by....

Start with the Golden Rule...Do unto others...........be kind.

If the question has been already satisfactorily answered....then why answer...it is not imppressive to regurgate what others have already said and a two word reply may make for a high post count but low credibility....

The phrase "In My Opinion" is a valuable one, particularly in a hobby with so many different ideas, backed up by different experiences.

The more dogmatic the post, the less I pay attention......take everything with a grain of salt..maybe even a whole salt block.....

Post about what you REALLY know about...any one can google....real, hands-on experiences are what is unique.....

And here is a general rule I like for posting and life.....

Have fun....laugh a lot....laugh at yourself....the cruelest joke is the one we play on ourselves when we take ourselves too seriously....

Happy posting!

or just answer the questions!!! wise cracks are sooooo not cool when someone is being up front or needing answers :)

I think we should do our best to answer the original/current OP's question.

Then maybe a polite...and I mean a very polite PM about there could be some stocking issues discussed if they posed another thread. Letting them know we are to here help.

LOL, you should read my signature, then. Something I try to live by.

sometimes stocking has to do with the problems they are facing, such as disease, or high nitrates.

i have been trying to answer the initial question first and then giving the stocking advice after, but sometimes the stocking is so outragous its hard not to address that issue first.

i do not usually go to the coldwater forums though.

Exactly!
