Singapore is hot. You wouldnt need a heater for most tropical fish. If I remember right, thats the place where its always summer right? But if the room has AC at night, the temperature will drop below acceptable levels, and fast, unless the tank is huge. Even if you put in a heater, the heater will need to be quite powerfull to fight the AC.

You cant use cold water fish either because the temp during the day will be too high. So keeping fish in and air-conitionned room in Singapore doesn't seem to be a good idea. If you absolutely have to have it, it will need a heater, and a powerful one.

There are heaters that connect to the lines of your canister filter, or even within your canister, if you dont want to see the heater in the tank.
