well im a bit partial but BGK's are the best if you get 2 off them in a large enof tank no matter there temperment theyll get more or less along but i can't agree that with the neon tetras my sister but normal tetras in there about 3 times the neons size and they got eaten quick BKG's love the chase and will chase till the fish is stressed enof it dies or they catch um=p don't underesamate them there beautyfull but you got keep fish fastenof to get away or agressive enof to punk the BKG out my beta does it dailly =p. if you get 2 get a fish that they can see as a coman threat thats what i did they just double teamed him and now there just like brother and sisters just bicker alot

well he is only 2" long, tiny little guy I have been putting in bloodworms, just dont know if he is actually eating them
Try veggys i have a few BGK's and they all love them not too mention they usally will eat flakes after introduceing veggs. witch is totally awsom for a BGK too eat always try and feed meats too what i do for all of mine is once a day a small piece of zuchinni a frozen blood worms and some flakes and the tanks with more then one BGK in them get some frozen shrimp too =p they'll usally eat a little of everything get full come back 2 or 3 hours later and rumage if you don't give them a little evera food to find in the gravel later they WILL get agressive towords just about everything that gets in its way. and if there are any outher electro hunters ( baby whales outher knife's some eel's) they will start targeting them they seem too think they stole all the outher food so there a bit angry=p

Actually no they weren't, the guy at the LFS store told me they are really good at hiding and if you see them in action, they can fly faster than any fish, must keep holes covered tho, I found one on the floor this morning. There is a half inch gap at the back where the filter tubing runs in, &^%$#
Actually I have two Amanos. The tank I have is so peacefull that the shrimp mix freely with all the fish and without harrasment at all times of the day. And yes, they can move fast! I like them so much, I want to put some in a larger tank I am going to build for a BGK and maybe a few Clown Loaches. I also want to have SAE's and Oto's in the tank for the cleaning crew. If you want to see a couple of good pics of shrimip, follow the pic links below.

wow!!!, gr8 shots......Sounds like a cool tank your building. I'm not sure about clown knife, gets soooooooooo huge, how big will the tank be? I really like the amano shrimp, I was very burned to find one on the floor today. Over 4 dollars each!

My bkg is quite content with is bits of shrimp and bloodworm, I saw him nudge 3 cories out of his way to get at the substrate under them. He just crawled under them with his nose! He seems totally disinterested in the other fish. (hoping this lasts) I notice he leaves bits of shrimp, flings it around a bit, and comes back to it later, as blackghostknife has said. I overfeed a bit so that there s a bit lying around, but by morning its gone.

Hey guys, glad to get some new names in here!!! My BGK is eating just fine now, it was the move that got him, I am pretty sure about that! He eats blood worms and brine shrimp. And the Clowns and BGK get along just fine, in fact, they all get alone just fine, they run up right alone side of the BGK and they don't seem to get scared or anything! They were all added at the same time

I need a name for my BGK, Gizmo maybe!

Ha love it, what do you think

Here they are, he is really fast, so they are kinda blurry, but here they are, anyone know how to put them on as like a image instead of clicking it to view it? like the first set of pictures of the bgk?

hi Ryknier! Nice pics. Your bkg grew? I thought he was tinier than mine. He acutally looks about as large as mine. I'll have to have a closer look tonight. They apparently are slow growers and take a few years to reach full size, or so I've been told. I can trade him back if he outgrows my tank (although I don't look forward to that!)

Swimfins: Thanks! I was really pleased with the close up Amano shot. It will be a 128g corner tank, click here for thread. I am going to get a BGK, not a clown knife, but I hope to get some clown loaches like Ryknier as well.

Ryknier: thanks for the update. It's good to know the loaches & the BGK get along well. Are the Loaches really peacefull towards smaller fish? I think you can get a bigger shot if you post the full size pic on another website somewhere, and link to it in your posts here at AC.

Matak, I have Giant danios in there as well, and when the loaches are out, they swim right along the danios, without any fights or anything, the loaches do have there spot in the drift wood I have done in there, they do come out quite often, the danios, CONSTANTLY swim in the top part of the tank, back and forth!
The BGK is getting used to my presece by the tank, he would never come out, but now he comes out, its getting better, and it gets more and more exciting every day!!!

I don't know if you know what I have in the tank or if I specified in an earlier post, but I have:
2 Giant Danios
2 Clown Loaches
2 Moonlight Gouramis
2 Silver Dollars
1 Green Severum
1 BGK

They all get along great!!!! The moonlights pick on each other once in awhile, but recently, one of them got really big, and they both were the same size, I am wondering if I have one male and one female! exciting!

I have been noticing algae problems, being a new tank, I guess that is expected, so I am looking at something to rid of the problem, I don't know if an otto will work or what, Swimfins, what do you recommend?

I will definately help any way I can, But all of my help is from this site!!!!!! Swimfins actually helped me a lot with my set-up as far as with the driftwood, and helping me choose my fish, she is a smart fish keeper!!!!

This is the kind of stuff I needed to know. I think I have made at least part of my stocking choice for my future tank.

Can you describe the algae? Have you read this thread?

BTW, this thread has the most replies of any in this forum and the most views (except for the stickies). A lot of people must love knifefish!
