Log of building my 30gal custom lighting hood

Thanks. I was pretty impressed with the way it came out. Aside from the occasional refinishing, this was my first piece of furniture woodworking. My plan seemed flawless, but have way through I started to worry it was going to look pretty awful.

While not quite professional, I was extremely satisfied once it got put together.

Yeah, whoops! I forgot to take into consideration the fact that felt is like a sponge and water wouldnt be too good for it.

Yeah, I'm probably going to use weather stripping. I have some in my door cracks that is only about 2-3 mm thick. It'll compress down, and, my theory is, won't be seen.

I'm also thinking on some kind of additional "cover" for my filter that will block out light coming through space I had to build in for it.

Ok so where's the final total that it cost you to build it? ;) Very nice job. I'm going to make an attempt at it, I do believe.

I swear I'm not pouring myself over your design (lie). What's the height of the hood? I'm thinking 6 or 8 inches? You da man! Just sayin'. :grinyes: Wanna come over and do mine? Hahaha. I guess I might as well roll on with the questions while I am at it. Did you have a reason for using 3 different bulb wattages? Is there a down side to using all 20 or 26 watt bulbs?
