Mafia 2014 #1-- FF1 Simple--The Play

FF, I'm curious as to your thoughts on UN now that you two are tied up and you have a lone vote on me...

Asking FF if he's going to switch is not the same as wanting him to do so. I was curious which route he would take (him actually thinking UN was scummy vs. doing so purely out of self preservation) because that would have been important IMO had Zaffy not switched and FF was still around, depending on what UN flipped.

If I thought UN was scummier than FF at the time I would have had no problems switching myself.

Based on what evidence? Are you not even going to question Zaffy's last minute switch?

Zaffy, why were you so concerned with tying it up? Why didn't you like your vote on UN?

I'll have to run through the timing again, but I don't have enough time to pull a bunch of posts right this second.

So when you asked him the question you assumed he would switch, and the thing what was most curious to you was his reasoning?

Really, because I was curious too, then again I didn't bring it to his attention that he was tied with UN, because I wanted him lynched.

The evidence is what it is, you asking him if he's going to switch.

You, Wiz, and UN have all stated you are interested. I could read those responses I guess.

Anyone following the vote count would have known it was tied, so me "bringing attention to it" is hardly a problem. At least, I would hope that everyone participating in the game thread before nightfall was aware of the numbers. FF clearly was given he apparently switched out of self preservation.

In case you haven't noticed, Zaffy has responded to my/Wiz's/UN's concerns. I find it odd that you seem to be taking Zaffy's reason for his really late switch at face value by not even at least acknowledging it...

So when you asked him the question you assumed he would switch, and the thing what was most curious to you was his reasoning?

No, you're putting words into my mouth. I never assumed FF would switch. Assuming that FF is going to do something in this game would be stupid. Had I (as hypothetical scum) assumed he would switch on his own accord, I wouldn't have needed to say anything at all.

At the time I did think it was very likely based on it being FF and him at least naming UN earlier, but not everyone switches when in that situation. If you look at the post of FF's I quoted in my question you'll see that FF really only named UN in connection with me. I wanted to know how strongly that would be used as his reason to switch, if he chose to even switch at all.

Bottom line is I asked because I thought it would be important information to have moving forward, rather than possibly just seeing a bolded vote switch from FF close to nightfall without any explanation as to why. There are situations where, depending on who was lynched and what side they flipped, I think that could have been useful.

I feel like a parade of catastrophes today.
I'd certainly have my attention on me too. I feel like Scumasaurus rex right now, the scummiest scum that ever scummed the scum. I'd be tempted to vote myself if i could.

While I was supervising the lab today, around 3:30, the internet at school cut out. This is a huge hassle because kids who were taking exams can no longer submit them and they risk losing their work. It's usually poorly received when students lose their work so we try to avoid it. Generally, lab time is pretty dead and I just have to make sure they're not cheating and I have plenty of time to do my own thing. But, when something like this happens everyone gets all anxious and needy.

Long story short is that, At 3:30 when I attempted to post my vote change and it didn't work I also became very needed by very needy little monsters. I had to interrupt a kid and get on my phone to post before nightfall. While I had crafted my original vote, for some reason I thought that I was tying UN and FF up at 3 votes a piece. again, a mistake on my part.

When I got home, my fiance and her sister were waiting because we were going to KBBQ for dinner. Now, it's 9:30 and I'm exhausted and get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Ok Zaffy, I have a question about timing and your original attempt to switch to FF in order to "tie" the votes...

thru post 227.....

(2) FF1 by 2Hobbs 190 jpap 227

(1) jpap by FF1 192

(3) Un by wiz 222 Zaff 224 Bally 226

1 folk remaining to vote....

About 50 Minutes to Nightfall Day 2....

PMs as required.

I'm using this vote count because it was posted well before you attempted to originally switch your vote and the only one left to vote was UN, who couldn't vote himself anyways.

I'm concerned about you saying that you wanted to move from UN to FF to tie it up. The problem is that because you were already on UN, by switching you would not only add 1 vote to FF, but you'd also take one away from UN. So the only way you could possibly do that and create a tie was if UN had 2 more votes than FF at the time of your switch.

I know I've had some math issues myself already this game, and maybe I'm missing something right now, but I think this is important because the only time that occurred is when Bally voted UN right before I voted FF...the votes happened at practically the same time and a good 30-40 minutes before you even tried to switch.

Could you reconcile any of this for me? I don't understand at what point you thought that by switching you'd tie the votes...

Hey I'll vote Zaffy right now if you can prove to me that UN is Scum. Until that time Zaffys late switch on night 2 is no scummier to me than your late vote night 1 on a UD.

JP;

You need to help me, I must be missing something.

What is it that you see about Zaffys late move to FF that I don't?

Questioning Zaffy =/= I think he is scum, or that he deserves a vote at this point. All I said was that it is weird that you didn't even comment on it at all. Rather, you've come up with this theory that I wanted FF to switch his vote...

And while it would explain things well IF UN is scum, just because I'm not 100% sold on UN being scum doesn't mean Zaffy gets a free pass for making such a noteworthy splash. I do have reservations about UN myself, but I'm not going to go off spouting a Zaffy-UN team without digging into Zaffy's explanation first.

Lastly, sure, the timing of my DD vote and Zaffy's switch is quite similar...but I wasn't exactly switching off the current vote leader to become the kill vote on an innocent, was I? Apples and oranges, IMO, if that means anything to you...

What I see is Zaffy stating he wanted to tie things up, despite the voting record stating that it would not have been possible for Zaffy to do so at really any point around when he initially wanted to post. He could easily be telling the truth and got all sorts of mixed up yesterday, but I'm not going to just sit here and believe him given the gravity of switching votes last minute. Heck, Zaffy could be telling the truth and still be scum trying to make this game day (which is do or die) a complete mess.

thru post 296, no votes for Day 3....

Still not helping me, maybe I'm just thick.

We have been working from the primes all game that there are likely 2 scum. (I agree with you on that by the way)

So this is my point. Without a UN/Zaffy team your questioning/focus on him in a do or die game day is a huge waste of time.

If Zaffy is Scum why would he draw attention to himself with a last minute move from one innocent to another. That makes no sense to me.

I find it ridiculous for you to essentially say that Zaffy is off limits for questions unless I'm absolutely certain that UN is scum. How am I suppose to come to the conclusion of whether a scum team of Zaffy/UN is valid without digging into their individual posts? It's like you think I am able to come to a magical decision about the two without actually going through the whole mafia game questioning process...

If this is such a huge waste of time, please direct me to where I should be looking instead.

I came online this morning, pointed a finger at you, asked you a question. This was your response.

I took Zappys explanation of last nights events at face value, and tried to explain myself. You didn't and tried to explain your reasoning.

At this point I'm fine agreeing to disagree.
