THanks for answering. I retract my vote on Gunslinger and I vote to lynch Nem because I agree with several of the arguments on him. I also think Scoop could be evil, I give them both a 75-90% chance of it, which is more then I have for the rest of you. Since day one is a crapshoot, I flipped a coin as to which one, but I would have been fine with either.

I don't understand why Rick would be implicated if Scoop turns scum. Wouldn't it be more incriminating if Scoops flipped townie?

You could look at it two ways:

1) scoop is innocent and thus Rick brought up because he/she knew it would then matter if scoop was lynched

2) scoop is scum and Rick was trying to keep votes off of scoop by bringing up the 3rd vote thing

#2 seems more likely for scum to suggest at the time seeing as there were hardly any votes cast at the time so it would have been rather early for anyone to know if that certain vote would even make a difference.

And of course the third option would be it was just an innocent question to begin with. Certainly could be the case but I wasn't exactly sure of the answer Rick gave me when I questioned it. I kind of shrugged it off for consideration later until Rick brought it up again...

I took the mention of the third vote the latest time as being a joke but it certainly brings up the issue if scoop ends up winning the vote (which at this point it could go any which way) and flips scum I would put Rick as next in line.

I can see it even if (maybe more so) Scoops would come up innocent. It just makes me feel like they want to be sure everyone takes notice to that third vote.

Well, there is a rule against posting one's PM if that is really the PM they will be removed from the game I believe. Although, when I click on the quote it takes me to the rules of the game, I think they quoted the rules and deleted all but that part.
This does make me wonder quite a bit and a out right role claim as that on day one especially certainly DOES make them stand out. Not sure how exactly I missed that, or why no one else took notice of it. This stands out more than anything else to me.

Gold leader, Nem, and Rickets are others that I could see voting for. None have done anything that SCREAMS scum, but they all have posted in ways that make me wonder more about them then others.

I already explained what I meant by the protesting comment. You're trying too hard to convince the town that you're "scum hunting". Seems to be a bit overboard to me. The "protesting too much" comment is a reference to Hamlet. Dang you're a very concrete thinker, huh?

Rock solid. :thumbsup: I guess it's now quite obvious I am neither a classic literature fan, nor do I watch a lot of movies. My strengths lay in other areas. And I think your explanation is shallow and I don't buy it. Not sure if you're scummy for it or a misled townie with bad guts.

At this point star-crossed is standing out the most to me, I don't see any kind of argument against me by him, and would love to see any form of a valid reason for voting me. IMO it looks like he just jumped on the train.

I'm struggling with my vote. Three of the people that initially caught my eye are all at two votes with everyone else on the block getting just one.

At this point I feel most comfortable going with my first gut instinct...

He brought up a valid point, and I'm glad that he did. A tie at nightfall will be interesting, and I think the town can get something good out of it if used the right way. The only problem with the tie is that we don't gain very much from nightfall, and will get back to voting the same people next nightfall. It will also give the scum a "free night" where they can gain an advantage by acting while we aren't.

Right now if I had to vote, it would be a toss up between chupacabra, old3toes, and goldleader. Each only have a lone post. I know it's only day 1, but even banter can be useful in finding scum.

I don't remember a game where banter helped finding scum. It's usually just distraction.

I agree with you on this one. To me the options may be useful at some point down the road and it would be a good idea to discuss these options at that point in time. But to vote no one or even yourself early in the game only serves as a cop out, kind of like voting for players who are going to UD. The town needs a voting record to gain evidence against potential scum and we get nowhere without one, basically an extended D1. JMO.

Banter allows for people to judge what someone's opinion is of other player. It also allows people to slip up and accidentally reveal they are scum. And (yes, there's more), banter allows for evils to "build" cases, distance, and do all the other things evils do, which can then help the town if someone notices. Banter = Good for everyone. Not Talking = Good for scum. Posting amount means nothing, only quality. AKA, a ton of BS is useless, but the person has high post count. Not a lot of posts, but good info is given, but not a lot of posts.

Yes, I will admit that the wood/would thing could be worth watching. So could bringing it up. Is bringing it up vote worthy? I don't know at this early stage of the game.

You act as if you know that TH is playing. Is he playing and in your scum den? Was your post to him a warning so he doesn't slip? I think this bears watching as well.

Can you explain how the wood/would thing could be worth watching. It seems like a strange misspelling but I'm not exactly sure how that points to a scum?

not sure what to make of the narwhal nem interaction. could be team mates being told not to slip up followed by distancing, could be someone that was affraid of their real id being guessed.

Where is this PM post by Chup? I went back to around post 187 and can't find anything. I see role playing in Chup's first of that succession of posts, but not a role claim whatsoever. Please point it out for me.

I was thinking that it is a good thing that Mad gave us the option of voting no one or voting ourselves to avoid ud as I could not think of where my vote should fall. We do have a history of lynching innocents on day 1.

Really an eye opener. My first thought is rickets is trying to scare players off of voting scoop there by protecting him. But it could also be scoop is innocent and rickets is setting up another innocent for tomorrow by bringing this up.

Perhaps we could get past the whole pronoun use thing too...don't see how it is at all productive to question someone referring to another as he or she. No one except the person being referred to knows if they are correct anyways so it can't really help or hurt anything. More likely than not people are using "he" because it's habit. Happens when new players join and people don't know their sex. People tend to just default to the masculine.

Any one have any thoughts on why Rickets would comment on Scoops possible third vote but made no mention of Nem getting 3 votes even though it occurred first? Ricket your reason would be most important to me.
