Mafia #90-The Split

Holy crap, not another one! :wall:

The more I thought about nightfall at work, the more I figured I'd probably vote her again. I just don't get the last minute vote switch she pulled...... not by anyone who's on the town side.

Sure, once I get time to go through the posts and get back into the game. I'll be at the site and MFK for a while but not for mafia until later on. Sorry, folks.

It bothers you that we ended up losing an innocent? That someone really really scummy (from everything I have seen) is the kill vote on him? That it benefits scum to vote out someone? That all bothers you? We still had a voting record, there just wouldn't have been the loss of Hi IQ.

You know what bothers me? That you didn't vote. That you didn't answer my question as to why you didn't vote. It's right there in the quote of mine you pulled above. Is Bally your teammate?

What would have bothered me is another day 1 because we had no voting results to go by. If there's no lynch then the scum team wins the night without opposition. If there is a lynch then the town has the chance to come out ahead. It sucks that the lynch went the wrong way, but it's a rick the town has to take. If we no lynch all game long then the scum wins and the town has no chance. We'd have had a voting record but nothing to compare it to. The only ones who benefit from nothing learned is the scum.

I missed nightfall because I was having a bad day. I got home around 4pm pst (2 hours until nightfall, but I had to go to Best Buy with my girlfriend and explain computers to her. Then we went to Trader Joes and bought a peppered pork tenderloin, salad, red licorice, and some bratwurst. While she was checking out at Trader Joes I walked next door to *National chain pet store Name redacted* and bought food for my dog. On the way home I called my mom and talked to her for a while about my dad, he would have been 69 yesterday.

I didn't know it when you asked, but Yes, Bally was my teammate. You caught me, put the cuffs on.

I have not read up yet, and I won't be able to because I have SAT's this morning (7:45am) and won't be back till later.

Have you looked for scum though? or just at people who you think aren't posting what you want them to post?

I have been looking for sucum, but as to whether or not you believe me, well, that's up to you.

For the love of Bala... another one bites the dust. I'm really tired of UDs.

I retract my vote to lynch Bally.

My vot will either fall on DD, FF, or Zaffy. Not sure where yet.

So wait, why me? What have I done scummy?

I am not counting the aliases out at all, I am just choosing offering a way to figure out who the mafia are as best as I can... and with that thought, I am picking out who I would choose if I were mafia. I didn't have bally on my list because I wouldn't have her as a first choice foom my experience. Who would you choose? Why does the thought or process bother you so much?

I, personally, would choose Rich, Zaffy, or You, actually. All three of you are very good players, have experience, and are good at not looking evil even if they are.

Sucks that we lost another to UD. And then there were 2....townies left... so, I won't be back till later today, when I get back I'll read up and post my thoughts again.

okay... nvm, I thought there would be more to read by now... just Zaffy's post.... fail... to be frank, I think that everyone here (including myself) has done something scummy... it is very difficult to figure out who is scum when everybody looks like scum...

Zaffy STILL hasn't added anything to the game. At least, I don't see anything.

DD hasn't done much either, except speculate on who would pick who if evil. That just muddies the water.

Kashta hasn't really posted much, so I don't have much of a read on her. She did post a few good posts (aka, large and somewhat above my level) but she's disappeared since.

Gold and Star seem to have stopped tag-teaming since i started going at them for it, and they were BOTH dead wrong about bally. Between the two, I think they are an evil team right there.

As of right now, I retract my vote on Zaffy. I will see who I want to vote later tonight, but right now everyone is up there as an option.

Last night, I had many things to do while also getting back into the thread so I could post comments. We were both tired after a long week, so... Wizard went to bed while I was at my laptop. But instead of making a lot of posts (as intended), I ended up falling asleep on the couch.

Anyway, I have narrowed this down as well as I can based on what's in the thread. I have 1 suspect who seems much scummier to me than the rest. And 1 player I count as most likely innocent. Based on numbers now, that leaves the remaining 3 "middle" suspects as scum too.

With Bally's UD, that leaves only 2 of us against 4 evils in the game. So I won't name who I think my fellow townie is at the present time. I also no longer care which are the Dons, who may have turned whom, and all that.

Someone has to do the work in this game, building cases on people who look scummy and trying to sort out who is scum from who is townie. Would you rather I sit back and not jump on things that strike me as scummy?

Also, what did Bally do a good job on correcting? Did you fail to notice that she admitted to skimming the very post she used for her reason for voting for GL? That she failed to retract her vote, even knowing nightfall wasn't until tomorrow night.

You say she kicked the wrong bush, what bush was that? Throwing a vote on someone whose post she didn't even bother to read?

Although I agree with Star on some points in regards to Bally, I am still a little concerned about one phrase from Star that really stood out for me.

"Building cases" on players because they "look scummy" is a totally opportunistic way to play.... and that's often a scum-tell in itself.

The pre-nightfall things I wanted to address:

I build cases on those who look scummy to me. Are you suggesting I should build a case on someone who seems pro-town? I most certainly won't forget about those who do not seem scummy to me, but you bet I'll focus my energies on those I see as most scummy. It strikes me very odd you would suggest I do otherwise...trying to plant seeds of doubt for later?

I am a wicked fast reader.

There were a couple of things FF posted that originally made me go huh? but upon revisiting them I was able to make more sense of them.

To answer your questions, Star.......

Was I suggesting you should build a case on innocents? No.

Was I trying to plant seeds of doubt? No.

My point was that it's harmful for an innocent to "build" a case against anybody just because they can... merely because they "look" evil or can easily be made to appear evil.

Innocents aren't the ones who "build" cases out of anything they can use; that's what the evils are for.

Someone honestly working for the town should instead dig for clues, stick to facts as much as possible, and weigh different possibilities with some reasonable amount of objectivity. That's something you haven't done at all this game.

Initially, I did trust your gut reaction to Bally's game play not only because of what Bally did (unfortunate) but also because (if innocent), I knew you'd be someone who'd pick up on a scum-tell like that from Bally.... better than I would myself.

Unfortunately, you're also someone who would know how to rattle Bally even more than she was already and to fully take advantage of her for making mistakes.

Because of timing, I was forced to place a real early vote and that's all that stood out to me that soon.

For whatever reasons, Bally made some poor choices in this game. And I still don't understand why that happened, Bally is a much better player than what we saw from her this time. So, yeah... If she weren't already dead, my vote today would have most likely gone her way.

The only reluctance I had in voting her yesterday was that I also caught a tell-tale slip you made by admitting that you were "building" cases (scummy) instead of looking for clues/details to decide if they were useful or not (not scummy).

I want to trust Kash, but I always want to trust Kash.

Indeed.

And have you noticed you always say that when I'm innocent......... and you're not? Lmao.

Her little dig at me has me thinking she is scummy and wanting to set me up in the near future.

My little dig at you was nothing of the sort. The way you phrased that comment was a slip....... coming from you. To be honest, the reason I called you on it at that time was because I wanted to see the little tap dance you would do to get around it.... lol.

Despite your alias name I recognized who you are quite early from your own posts. This isn't the first time I could tell who you were while you used an alias. I have also been able to read you rather well when you were evil in previous games we played....... as does someone else in this game who, I expect, has also recognized who you are for the same reason.

That said, it is a fairly obvious scum tell for you (specifically) to launch into a relentless case-building crusade against targeted innocents. You get like a pitbull chasing after a hamster.

The fact remains, your game play is different depending on which side you're on.

I vote to lynch Star Crossed.
