Major Problem:Got Ants!

Get sticky traps from your local Wal-Mart or similar. Many supermarkets and hardware stores have them around here, also.

My mom keeps the ants at bay with dawn dish soap spread around in a thin film everywhere she's seen an ant walk. After a couple days they stop coming back... until a few months later when a new colony shows up.

depending on the ant, you can use teetree oil! this is what I use and it works like a charm, just circle your terrarium and the edges, ALL the egdes with it every day to every few days, the ants wont cross it becasue it messes with their "sensors" also any chili oil will I think work as well. if you want to see this trick really work get an ant on the counter and draw a circle around it with the oil. they just start freaking out and wont cross it. once agian I dont know what kind of ants you have, for me this works with sugar ants, if you have carpenters you may have a much bigger problem!

You can clean the area outside the tank with vinegar. That will kill the hormones that the ants use to tell the other ants to go there for food.

You can also make your own poison using gelatin and car coolant. Just make the Jello and leave it by where the ants enter the house.
