Meet Toonie

It’s not easy having put so much effort into saving a fish only for the fish to go rapidly downhill. I had a few bettas that I did everything I could but after awhile they were suffering. Sometimes it is best to end their suffering. Sorry for your loss. :(

Yeah it was not an easy decision. Theres always that nagging doubt wondering what if he could make it and if im taking away that chance he could have made it.
But when you can see that the light he had in his eyes was gone and he just was so exhausted and not wanting to do anything besides lay under his heater or in the leaf litter, not even going up for air, you know he is in pain and suffering. And he was too good to let suffer for the small selfish chance that logically wouldn't have happened.

Some photos of him during the week before he took a further worse turn.

I had the tank light on too long, he told me he wanted to go to bed by sticking his head under a leaf.

Couldn't find him one morning. I turned his light on and he poked his little head up from under the leaves. Probably my favorite photo.
