Ok so imagine my distress when i read the title "moderator abuse" and started reading only to find out that it was not in fact a thread on how best to abuse a mod...............That being said I would still like to share my preferred method of abusing a mod. No one abused a mod better than their own daughter.

Yes I get plenty of abuse at home thank you.

I have had posts edited/deleted because the mod misinterpreted what I was saying. I think a post should be edited/deleted if and only if it is abundantly clear that the rules were broken. There shouldn't be any 'guess work'. We shouldn't have our opinions/views taken away from us because the MOD just didn't understand. Sometimes I get the impression that mods will alter posts just on a whim or just because they felt like it.

In all seriousness, its a tough job trying to decide what is family friendly and what is not. Our mods VOLUNTEER a lot of their own time to do this job, and we need to be grateful for that. With out them there would be no AC and we wouldn't have a place to ask questions about our fish and have them answered. Yes sometimes it might be frustrating having a post edited but keep in mind that all the mods here a good people with lives of their own that are just trying to keep the forum running smoothly.

Also I might add that if you feel that your post was edited unfairly you can always calmly PM a mod to ask about it, or give an explanation your point of view. They are reasonable people guys, try talking it out with them you might be surprised.

Exactly. . . :)

I think its funny that people actually think that mods waste there time doing things on a whim. Personally I have better things to do than babysit, so it is MUCH APPRECIATED when everyone respects each other and remembers that AC is a family forum and keeps the contents of posts as such.

I think its amazing the whining and complaints that are given for edits and deletions, but the threads created with compliments for keeping AC clean and family oriented are few and far between. I bet there are still some of us out here that remember a few years ago when the site was over run with spam and trolls. This isn't a kindergarten playground, its a community.

Because a lot of people are not happy, and AC doesn't listen or care. People want to just come here and just be able to talk, like how normal people talk. People don't want to have to sit in front of their computers rewording their sentences all the time.

If everyone is always complaining & rarely complimenting, maybe AC should take the hint.

I don't know that a lot of people are not happy, and not everyone is complaining. It's impossible to please everyone on any board. We try to use a balanced approach on what we edit/delete...

you can't expect us not to edit swear words or posts insulting other members. On the other hand, we can't expect you guys to act like you're on a g-rated kindergarden forum.

Balance is key...

And again, it's been said numerous times on the thread already. You feel like you were treated unfairly, contact the mod of your choice, or a global...

We dont edit posts based on specific interpretation, we edit posts based on items which go against the terms of service. Your opinions or views are never removed, unless they are offensive or rude etc etc...and if you post in an offensive or rude manner, then yes, expect it too be edited or deleted. Staff work as a team, and if a member of staff thinks that something is "iffy", they will ask the team for advice.....

The range of staff come from many different cultures and walks of life, and we feel this gives us a great balance and view on posts, or information contained in a post.

As others have said, we dont want to be going round editing posts for the heck of it or on a whim...personaly, i have better things too do...

The people on AC are not happy...or is this you?? It does not take much to use common sense when posting...if your post if going to come across as offensive or rude...then dont post it...sit back...take a breather...then post after settling down..

We are not asking people to re-word their sentances all the time, we just would like a community that is not rude or diss-respectfull....

I have said this times before, we do not hold people to randsom to stay at AC....If you want to find a forum which does not moderate the language posted, or allows people to flame others, then, were not stopping you from finding another forum.
