Monster Energy Drinks vs. Monster Fish Keepers...spread the word!

I am not sure destructive and demeaning behavior is what the site needs as a reputation. Might be alot more constructive if you tried to show the obvious differences between the products and the faults in their assumptions. We are hobbyists, not out of control You Tube view getters....

I completely agree. I personally would not want to be associated with any of that behavior. As was mentioned many times before, buying Monster products is a form of supporting them. I'm sure they don't care if you buy the can and drink it, or run it over with a Hummer or shoot it with a BB gun. I'm sure everything that can possibly be done to a soda can, has been done already (maybe add to that sentence..."and posted on YouTube")

The soda can is not a sacred symbol like a flag or religious object, so it is not going to offend or shock anyone, if that is what you're after. Destroying the can reflects poorly on the individual doing it, making them seem immature and childish. If the Monster executives think we are a bunch of ninny wits with big fish throwing rocks at soda cans, they are less likely to take us seriously.

When I first started the petition, 5,000 signatures seemed like a lofty goal. Now I am wondering if I should increase it? I still can. I had no idea the word would spread this fast...guess I underestimated you all :)

I don't know exactly what happens when we reach 5,000 signatures, other than that the petition will end. I do believe every time someone signs the petition, a copy of the petition letter gets emailed to the Monster execs (the email that was provided at http://support.monsterfishkeepers.com) but I am not positive about this. This is what I have read happens in articles others have written about starting online petitions.

The FAQ is very bare bones, not very helpful...
http://helpdesk.change.org/forums

And then there are more articles about how the petitions work, and how to start them, but nothing very specific or technical:
http://www.change.org/guides/how-an-online-petition-works
http://www.change.org/guides/start-your-online-petition

I can try finding an email contact and asking them some more questions like this.

But ultimately...do we want to increase the signature goal? I bet we will hit 5,000 signatures by early or mid next week. It just seems a little wrong, for some vague reason to me. I am sure out of the 2,000+ people who have signed, some have bookmarked it and are watching the progress. So, to pick up the finish line and move it seems a little...well...

I was telling a friend of mine about this to get him to sign and pass along to his reptile friends as he is a snake breeder. He said that MED is doing the same to a forum he is in called monstersnakesforum.com

They are hooked up with a group called USARK, its a reptile keeper group but they also fight for exotic fish and other animal groups. Might be a good idea to contact them too.

Have you guys looked into or spoken USARK yet?

Monstersnakes forum is fighting the same battle, as I'm sure others are, the more you all unite the stronger your fight will be. Having a lot of little groups won't make the same impact.

I couldn't find anything on Monstersnakes.com or USARK's site that mentioned Monster Energy was after them. Please post a link.

We need to do our best to remain professional in our responses. Our words/actions can do as much harm as they can do good. We need to choose our words wisely.

You should start a thread about that, Ice...I am not familiar with your site. Feel free to post a link on here to your thread.

Completely agreed. I know forums are casual places, but the petition needs to remain formal...not to mention updates need to be short and sweet. I'm all ears for ideas, I'd like to post an update every couple of days (already did one today).

Keep it up guys. CCA is doing its part for MAN.
If every person on here posted one time per day on Monster Energy's face book page then their fans would get to see what they are up to. Be nice but to the point.
Someone spammed them today and it made MAN look bad.
Keep it going.
I would personally say that if you get around 4500 by Sunday or Monday, then I would raise the goal. The more we get the better. The goal is not a number but to get those idiots off our backs.

I just visited Monster's Facebook page, and without naming names, I want to share an example of the kind of post that in my opinion does much more harm than good:

Hey Monster Energy, i do not like you page because you make your drink look so cool..and you make it seem as if ur corporation did huge things for humanity. should i sue you for such a thing??? or ignore you and live with it....my Friend Li Neoprodigy is being sued by ur corporation just because your lawyers are bored... who in their right minds would possibly confuse your green drink with a fish????where is the issue??????! explain that to all those that drink ur ****-color drink please. NOW LETS THINK A LITTLE AND STOP THIS NONSENSE!!! thank you.

Posts like this reflect poorly on the site, it's members, it's management, and only adds fuel to a fire that our goal is to put out. Whether or not Monster Energy donates to charity or does things for humanity is not the issue. The "point" about suing them for it makes no sense and appears to be just tossed in at random. They are not being sued because Monster's "lawyers are bored", they received cease & desist letters because Monster Energy feels that the Monster Aquaria Network & MonsterFishKeepers is infringing on their trademark, which could lead to lawsuits if MAN does not cease & desist. Lies and mis-information about what the problem is, don't help us one bit. The quality of their product is not the issue either, and insulting them by calling it "****-color" is certainly not going to help make our point. Not to mention that it also sounds insulting to those who drink Monster Energy drinks, which are the very people we need to be trying to reach by posting on their Facebook page, to get them to support our cause regarding this issue.

Everyone, please listen to the admins/mods that have posted about the proper way to conduct yourselves regarding this matter as far as the public eye is concerned. Everything you post is seen by those outside of the MAN group of forums as being representive of the entire Monster Aquaria Network, in front of the entire world. For most people, this is the ONLY thing they will know about us, not being MAN members or hobbyists themselves. Please keep your anger and insults to yourself when posting about this in public, and only make well thought out, concise points, with (and I can't stress this enough), proper spelling/grammar. And DON'T WRITE IN ALL CAPS! Caps are generally viewed as yelling, which makes the person using them look immature and further invalidates any point they're trying to make. Posts that don't follow these simple guidelines will not be taken seriously by anyone at Monster, nor by the public that is on the outside of this situation looking in. When our actions are seen as immature by the people at Monster Energy, as well as by their supporters and the public, that is precisely how they will treat us, and that's when legal battles rise, and is precisely what we're trying to avoid.
