Cool idea! I have to say I invisioned moss stars etc for holiday deco, maybe using red mesh. Not sure I'd really do it though, I like the more natural look.

You know, I was thinking if I could find something to make a narrow cylinder of moss mesh float, I could anchor it to something (DW, rocks, buried mesh base) with nearly invisible nylon thread and have a cylinder of moss floating mid-columnI'd have to somehow trap air and attach the bubble to the center of the cylinder (probably using silicone?). Oh this so isn't over...
You know what I'd do? I'd make a sandwich like this:
Mesh-moss-that teeny tiny thin bubble wrap-more moss-mesh..then roll it all up, stitching the edges closed, and then your tube would float!

Not a clue, other than not very if I'm left alone with it and no other distractions for any length of time. Being plastic though, as long as the bubbles themselves don't have micro leaks and deflate over time, I'd think a good long while.I don't know what kind of plastic it's made out of, either...
The arch is AWESOME and it probably won't take that long to grow in actually. I started with a golf ball size under less than 1 wpg with no ferts or co2 and four months later I easily have more than two large handfuls in my tank. When I upgrade I am definitely doing some "rolling hills" lol but for now I have too much driftwood in my 25g and I can't take any out because my shrimp hide in the bitty holes lol. More reasons to upgrade sooner! YAY
