I was at Petco a couple days ago, looking for a new betta and saw some very interesting fish that they had marked as Rummy Nose tetras. I know there are 3 different varieties based on color pattern of their nose. These fish were total weird mutants. first off, they were HUGE. They had them in a tank next to Scissor Tail Rasboras. They were the same size, about 2+" long. Their tails were striped like normal, but different. like, super intense and just odd...I can't really describe them any better than that. the most blatant oddity was they had a dark stripe that ran from their tail, to about half way up their body. Very much like this actually

Has any one ever seen this fish? It seemed like a hybrid between a true rummy nose, and this scissor tail rasbora above.

any info? They were actually REALLY striking, and I wondered if they would school with true rummy noses. Is this a new species?

no they totally had the red nose. They had the red nose and the striped tails like a normal rummy nose. the pic above is to show the horizantal black line they had in their bodies. And they were huge, like the rasbora species above.

I have rummy noses. these were NOT stressed rummy noses. any other thoughts?

1. striped tail like normal
2. red nose like normal
3. twice as big as a normal rummy
4. horizantal black stripe through the body
5. tail more intense than normal. maybe due to te sheer size of the fish.

ditto...but I really want to know. They were very striking fish and if they would school with true rummies, I wouldn't mind adding a few for some more impact!

Also, as far as size goes, I don't know exactly how to know the size of these fish. I do have a school of 9 rummies that are about 2 years old at this point, and i'm just saying these ones were MuCH larger than mine. I don't know how big that is, but I assume mine are full standard size at this point.
