Ah, I didn't think of the glass needing to be cut. As for breaking though, with that much pressure behind it just about any crack or weakness will result in a blowout.
I'd go with the 2" acrylic. Better to spend a bit extra for the safety margin IMO. A big fish striking the window may be the straw that breaks the acrylic camel's back if tolerances are close.

thats still alot of pressure

yes tempered glass is great for desks and what not, but when it comes to a tank, I'd rather have plate glass. As the the Acrylic, you would be best with 2" or 1.75" depending on what you can get. either one will be strong enough!

Like MonsterFishRescue's tank, I'm going to have the tank plumbed with a valve that when opened will drain a percentage of the tank. The nitrate will be monitored and water changes done as necessary. It won't be on a weekly basis, but as needed.

Your going to pay alot of money for your water bill. Have fun with that haha.

I don't know why people keep saying that. I have almost 900 gallons now and it has no impact on my water bill. I had a 4000 gallon pool that we drained and filled a lot and that hardly impacted the water bill. I think that people who think the water bill is going to be out of control have never had a large tank. Showering every day probably takes more water during a billing cycle than water changes ever will.

i do have to agree on that your averidge shour take like 20 or 30 gallons aday and that adds up but tanks are that much once a week
