My goldfish is pooping A LOT. No, like, really, A LOT.

Try to get floating pellets especially with having sand in the bottom.

Why does sand effect it? Isn't eating at the surface bad because they gulp air? Plus they have no idea when food is at the surface of this tank, I have to push it down for them and then it stays floating around for a bit because of the power heads.

Oh yea I forgot about the power heads. And I was saying that because the less sand in their system the better.

That poop is neither white or stringy. It looks very full and healthy, just in huge portion! I have had fish with internal parasites and it does NOT look like that at all. You would see sections of the poop that were totally clear and the only reason you could tell it was there was there was some solid poop attached to both ends. Im almost positive your fish is fine, just being a goldfish

Thats what I thought at first glance.

if it cant get rid of its poo i would think it was constapated. it wont hurt to feed the peas.

Sorry manda I was just confused haha. Thanks for the input aquaticaustin; I'm fairly new at this and sometimes I feel like the endless research I do doesn't mean squat compared to experience....so I'm glad you have some (though I hope your fishies turned out ok?). I'm still gonna starve them for a few days and do the peas just in case...they' re still chowing down on the sand, so I feel like feeding them in the meantime is probably overkill...hence poor Lydia's massive poop. And I will still switch to the API brand. It sounds like it's a lot better for them. Thanks guys!

read up on it. it could be constipation, a bacterial infection, or internal parasites. if you think its constipation dont feed for three days and then feed some green peas.

If it were constipated it wouldnt be pooping..

I have seen Goldies toting around poops longer than that. I personally wouldnt worry.. Tap the glass lighting and hel him pinch that off.

Ahahahahahaha....i tried that already!
