My L-144 Project

Hi you two! Temptress I'm thinking male on those last two pics as well. Very narrow body for his age. If he is about the same size as the others, you would see evidence of eggs by now. They carry those first eggs a very long time, you will see them before you see bristles on the males. Your guys have to be about a year old now....it's 8 months since you acquired them and they were probably close to 4 months old when you got them. I got a few new ones to add maybe 2 months after you got yours, and my males both show bristles. One was faster to show than the other. Best way to see the little stubs is to catch sight of them against the dark driftwood. It will still be quite a while before that female is ready to spawn. They get HUGE. I have one now that I swear will burst. Seems to me she should have spawned weeks ago. Here's a shot from a while ago of some of my females all up on the glass at the same time.

That's a great pic Debbi! Mine rarely come up against the glass like that, so it's harder to see them from the bottom. I'll see what I can do to get better looks at them. :)

The first picture (if I remember the order correctly) is of the largest one in the tank, the skinniest of the first 2 I posted. and ya, I was pretty sure the fatty was a girl.. but I also thought that other was a female too, til I watched how they were behaving the last couple days, those 2 seem to always be together, and never "shove" each other away, they actually perch on top of each other.. like one rests it's head on the other none of the others are like that, but they are all smaller than those 2

wow this is a good thread. I got a long finned on its way from Debbi and I got my 2 short finned also from Debbi in my tanks. I was snappin pics of the one in my planted tank and I noticed it has lil bristles. Barely noticed it last night before work. Only noticed cuz the pics i took. During selecting which pics to keep and delete I saw the bristles. I share pics if you guys wanna see em.

Gabriel, definitely post pics of your BN's. The more the merrier. :D

Temptress, sounds like you might already have a pair. :D Makes me jealous...lol.

James - our just a little behind Temptress in age of the fish. Did I mention how slow they grow and mature? LOL!

Gabriel.....:hitting: on seeing bristles one day after I shipped you a maybe-baby-boy!!!!! Soon you're gonna need another girl!:grinyes:
Please post pics!

Yeah, you had mentioned that...lol. You weren't kidding in the least...haha.

And raising fry is a much more delicate process then common bristlenoses. And breeding is nowhere near as prolific either.

Ill post them up later on. Debbi I know I feel like such a dork cuz of that but oh well nothing I can do now. I was looking at them on the glass yesterday and I think I got 1 male and 1 female which would be so cool considering I got both of them from Debbi at the same time.

Mine were ordered in July of 09 and Debbi said they were prob born in May so there like a year old. =)
