My octopus laid eggs

nice video. I didn't think there would be that many. Hopefully at least one makes it through. Of course, more would be great, but I'd like to see at least one through it's little journey.

wow how big was the egg sac? holly smokes i'd die too if i had that many babies.. arn't they like spiders they die to make food for the babies? i thought i saw that once on nova or something?

Octopuses with the optic gland removed were proven to live longer by Dr. O'Dor. The mom died today, stuck to the glass facing my bed. Very sad, but I knew it was coming for a while. I think tommorow I am going to get a few in a breeder net and turn on the skimmer, because even though I changed 20% the water quality is degrading I think. Maybe this will allow me to focus feeding the few left better also until they grow. Fingers crossed!

I"m so sorry. That's the reason we're iffy about getting an octo, even though both of us really like them-handling that loss after only a year or two.

Though,we might change our minds if you raise those fry! LOL or loose them, how are we going to afford a SW tank...

wow how amazing that your octo had these babies. so sorry that she died for it tho. i sincerely hope you are able to raise some of the young so you are able to have one of her babies for the next couple years. it would be nice to raise one and not have to wonder how old it is and wonder if it will only live a few months after getting it...

WOW! Thanks for sharing. That video is neat to watch. She sure had a lot of babies. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Keep us posted on the little ones.
