@bgourami320 : Thanks a lot ! If your bulbs are expired the plants will grow slower and algae will soon appear .I use T5 light bulbs of 5 $ a piece and they last about 18 months.
A T8 lasts approximately 6 months .There must be a way to find bulbs in your area. Good luck !

Ideal sand dimension for planted aquarium with HC is 1-3 mm .I use 2-4mm sifted sand obtained from construction gravel .I don't know the size of play sand ,but if the size is under 1mm I wouldn't recommend it because it will suffocate the plant roots.

What substrate would you recommend?

This time I used more eleocharis parvula and I planted bigger pieces of HC.
I will keep you updated on how it develops .
