Nanos BJGD Log

I divided the parents from the eggs added a airstone and cleared the sand from that side of the tank. Parents attacked me several times but they were already showing mating behavior I figured this is best if I want to keep the fry. I see little black dots inside the eggs a very good sign! Should hatch tomorrow or wednesday. Temp is 82.2

Already started hatching! Wow that took just two days.

2 Days??? Wow that was quick. Mine didnt hatch that fast. Mine took, like 3 days lol. Doesnt take long for them to become free swimming. Its amazing how fast they grow when starting off. Pics are a must lol

Fry are doing great seem to wiggle around only about 30ish still fine with me I think this is good for a first try. I'll have pics soon! By tomarrow for sure!

Most of mine are gone the mother is a lil stressed and as a result began eating the fry. Im gonna remove the remaining few in a little bit. Glad yours are doing good. What are you feeding your babies???

Just frozen baby brine shrimp and some of these very small cichlid pellets like these things are tiny! I don't have time right now to grow BBS but I will be soon, I should be able to pick out the EBs in 2 weeks.

Ill have to wait till these my pair completely heal and mate before I could doing any seperating. Hopefully come next week Ill be getting my new 75gal aquarium. When I do the JD pair will get to live in the 53gal till a month after when Ill be trying to buy a second 75gal which they will be called home for them.

How easy or hard is it to tell the BG's from the EB's at 3weeks of age???

It's not all that easy at all it gets easier though as time passes but I'd like to save as many EBJDA as I can so I'll probably separate them into two different containers. But EBJD will be paler and they won't have solid horizontal bars on there bodys. It'll be more broken up and blotchy. I will take pics to show the difference and get some opinions from other members. I moved all the fry into a small plastic tub to feed them easier and watch them closer there's only around 25ish now.

Got a new EBJD only about 2in long, local breeder gave it to me for making a deal about trading my EBJD fry with him. Looks really nice I'm quite happy with it's body and coloring
