Need Snail ID

I'm wondering if the New Zealand Mud Snails is a possible ID ... USGS

Gosh, I hope not. I didn't think they had penetrated this far east though, they're generally populated out west.

The head structure looks too much like my own Pleuroceras.. though I guess the easy way would be to just measure the size. NZ Mudsnails top out at less than 1cm if I'm not mistaken.

Cool! I'll try to get a temp. PM me with detailed info on how to ship. Luckliy, its warm where I am, so we might not need heat packs.

*butts in* I'd like some too.

They have been found in lake Erie... For a full list go here

I thought that at first, but these guys are waaaay too big for that. They are all around .5 to 1 inch. NZ Mud Snails only get up to .25in. Good thing they aren't those guys!

Yep good thing glad to hear we ruled that one out.

Alrighty folks! I went down today and grabbed a bunch more snails, and 5 prepaid boxes! So, I'm going to try damp shipping them, per Sounguru's instructions.
One package is Msjinkzd, one goes to Sounguru, and Docsoldlady has dibs on the 3rd, assuming she was serious :). That means I can send 2 more packages to whoever calls dibs first! Obviously I don't know much about these guys, but they were collected in cool (65-70F) water, leaving little trails in the mulm.
So, if any other snail collectors are interested, post here and PM me!

I would be interested. Are they doing ok in tropical temps?
