Need some help with an outdoor pond!

Ok that's a great tip. For mechanical filtration, what would you suggest for a micron sock? Maybe a 200, or perhaps a 100? I don't kno yet.

I use those pond filter boxes they sell at home depot. They have 2 densities of sponges in them. They're made to actually have a pump inside them, but since I'm using an external pump, I just stick the intake hose into the box. I'm going to rig up a Y on the intake so I can use two of them in the spring, and I'll have a third clean one so I can rotate them once a week, so each one gets cleaned every other week,

That was kind of fuzzy. Can you please get a picture for me? Thank you so much.

Ok cool. Thanks a lot sploke. You've been a real help. :)

Ok since it is going to be in the sun, I will most likely have a problem with algae. So I'm thinking of using a UV. What wattage would you suggest that I use? The pond will have part shade, but I want this to be a nice looking pond, not just functional. Also, where would you suggest I put the UV? Like on the return pipes? Thanks again Sploke.

I use an 18w turbo twist on the return line.

Will an 18w keep it clear, or will it keep it CRYSTAL clear?
