No they were aborted Molly eggs. I saw two or three the fry that survived, but they were most likely eaten because they were nowhere to be found this morning.

I have a question. I have black hairs coming from all of my plants. They are semi long black thin hairs or strings I guess. I will upload a picture when I get the chance, but does anybody know what it is or what causes it?

Never mind. I did some research and it turns out it's black hair algae. I found several ways to get rid of it, but what's the best way that some of you have found to get rid of it.

My weapon of choice is ramshorn and apple snails to get rid of it once you have algae. Preventing it that balance thing we all talk about... preventing excessive nutrients and/or less light and/or more WCs.
They do abort their eggs sometimes if they don't feel comfortable. I know they are love bearers, but like I said they do abort their unhatched eggs sometimes. Also sometimes their will be a few fry that survive. I may not know that much about aquarium keeping, but I did a lot of research on Mollies before putting them in my tank. As I read over this I realize it may have come off rude. If so I apologize, that was not my intent.

Still battling with the black hair algae. Having to unclog filter hoses every 4 to 5 days. LFS suggested flourish iron and flourish excel to dose alongside flourish. They said that it might take a little while, but it should work. I trust them, but it's always worth it to get a second opinion. So, have any of you had success killing off black hair algae with excel and iron on top of flourish?

Troublesome brush algae in a planted tank is due to an imbalance between light and nutrients, nothing more. I have battled this algae several times, and always get it under control by balancing the light (intensity and duration) with nutrients. Sometimes it has taken reducing fedrtilization from twice to once a week, sometimes covering the windows in summer to prevent additional light, sometimes by reducing the photoperiod. It all depends upon the balance and what is out.
It is true that Excel may kill this algae; after all, Excel is glutaraldehyde, which is a toxic disinfectant used to kill bacteria. Some plants will melt with Excel even at the recommended dose. Not something I would put in a fish tank. As for iron, this can often increase algae, since iron is a micronutrient for plants and in excess it is only going to feed algae. Iron being a heavy metal and therefore also toxic at high doses, it would make sense that it too can kill whatever.
The light is usually the culprit. With more data on your system, I may be able to pinpoint it better.

I have 2 fixtures on my tank that come out to 57 watts total. I leave the lights on about 8 hours a day. I have 2 aquaclear 30s. I am dosing regular flourish and api co2 booster daily. I feed flakes every day and I put an algae wafer in every other day. I also feed frozen brine every Monday, so once a week.
