Oh wow! Nice job, everything looks great. The fish selection is outstanding and the aquascape looks really good as well. Are those halloween hermits? I know the purple tang is the centerpiece but I have to say my favorite is the clown. What species is it? Congrats on a beautiful tank!

thanks guys. i appreciate it.

yes those are halloween hermits.

and the clown was listed at the pet store as a black saddleback . he absolutely loves the bubble coral. he works his way inside it at night even though its closed and stays there all night.
havne't seen too many of them so of course i had to pick him up when i saw him. definitely photogenic too.

Well she's beautiful. I believe what you're looking at here is aptaisia or a manjo anemone, both of which are pests and should be taken care of. You can try injecting lemon juice into it with a syringe and if that isn't possible you can buy some Joe's Juice or ApataisiaX. The later two should be carefully applied so you don't get too much on your polyps.

why do people hate glass Anemones so much? As long as you have a peppermint shrimp or 2 you can keep 1 or 2 larger ones, mine dont eat my fish, my fish are smarter then that lol. I think that look pretty good in a tank, i have 3, and some tiny ones that are peppermint shrimp food lol. The big ones mind their own business in my tank, and they don't look half bad either, but if you don't like them feel free to kill them by various means, if its on a small rock, just flip the rock over if they are on a bigger rock, just inject them with lemon juice in the mouth/stem part, wait till it gets about the same size as the stuff around it, you want to be able to stick the needle into it. use a syringe (like doctors giving out shots).

i forgot to mention, the clown is AWESOME! I wish i had a tank like that... How much would it take to buy it from you? :)

why do people hate glass Anemones so much?

1. They pack a powerful sting that can kill other corals.
2. Hard to completely erradicate
3. Spread like wild fire
4. Some people like to have certain fish (ex. hawkfish) that are not compatable with Pepermint shrimp.
5. They are ugly (majanos look cool, but aiptasia are ugly)

Just to name a few reasons.. ;)

Are they light purple with a little clear in them? If so then i have 3, 1 that i like and am keeping as a centepice (will be sure to kill smaller ones and get another peppermint shrimp) and i have not yet been stung so i still like them lol. If it does appear to be taking over my tank i will kill it. If you dont like them for the above reasons i can understand. I don't like the sound of them, but my larger one is so cute (for now). Its also pretty cool to whach it eat brine shrimp

Oh, and sorry to hijack the thread:)

The more and more I think about that clown I am beginning to think that you got one heck of a deal if it was sold as a saddleback. I may be wrong but I have only seen one black/white clown with yellow tips and these are it. Look at the smaller male...

Most saddlebacks that I have seen do not have bars running from top to bottom and are more of a misbar. Donlt get me wrong I really like saddlebacks but I think you might have something different there.

Better send it to me so I can get a closer look at it in my tank. I'll send it back, promise :)
