I broke up the rock to seperate the yellow polyps, mushroom & small Kenya tree yesterday. The yellow polyps have split 4 times since I got them around 3 weeks ago. The green zoo's which are hard to see, have already started to spread and attach to the rock I placed them on, I've broken off a few pieces and placed them around in the tank. It's not where I want them, but they've done the best right there in the tank. I added a #3 powerhead because the toadstool mushroom wasn't opening at all with the canister & #2 powerhead. Finding a good place for the #3 has been difficult, I've since moved it to the top & back of the tank and the added flow opened up the mushroom within an hour. The coral on the top left (sorry I always forget it's name) isn't a big fan of the added flow, the LFS said they don't like too much flow. It's polyps have been halfway retracted since added the #3, hopefully I can arrange some new LR to help break up the strong flow from the #3, or find a new position for that coral.
Got some transition shells for the crabs/snails, I've lost 2 of the 5 snails. I've lost no crabs, there is some royal rumbles going on between all the crabs, but no fatalities.
The Watchman is starting to come out a bit more from his home, he's grabbing pellets and for whatever reason he is going around the tank and herding the nuisance star fish. He doesn't let them get out of his sight?
The Mandarin is eating the copepod population, I noticed he's still picking them off the glass too. I think I'm going to order a copepod culture from the LFS & help keep the population up sometime this week..
Getting the itch to set up the new tank, but I need to complete the refugium/sump & get a good skimmer... so far so good!
