wile my back was turned the octo disappeared into the aquarium. i did manage to catch a glimpse of a tentacle though
live arrival. check
successful acclamation. check
tomorrow ill see what i can do about feeding him.
I acclimated him for two hours then it took him another hour or two to leave the bag. the little guy has come out of hiding and is exploring! i didn't expect to be able to get a good look at him for a couple of days. i still haven't gotten really close to the take wile hes be out and about but by the light of my computer iv noticed that he only has 5 & 1/2 arms. its common to get them like this because they are wield caught(they will sometimes let a tentical go to distract predators in case anyone didn't know) and have been known to eat an arm during the stress of shipping. they should grow back though.
guess hes a hexapus for now
so far hes explored the back and side wall, moved my hydrometer around and squeezed himself through a tiny hole in a shell. he seems to have taken a liking to the cave formed by the piece of live rock to the left int the pic of my tank.
What did you do to keep the tank covered and escape free? I looked at the pic and it looked like the tank was surrounded in acrylic with the light on top.
theirs about an 8"x20" opening for the light. my high-teck method of ensuring that the light wont be pushed up is a rock perched on top . I covered the overflow with some hot glue and fine net.
