I am not a vegetarian and I feel guilty for that. I bet a few centuries from now we'll be seen as savages for eating meat. I did grow up with vegetarians though

Ovo-lacto, to be exact.
I would advise you NOT so make a big deal of it in the beginning, because people around you may be upset if you accidentally relapse. Some people will all of a sudden feel it's their mission to catch you eating meat.
Now, for the fun part! Food suggestions!
Eat lots of beans, mushrooms, and "fake" meat. Some vegetarians rely too heavily on pasta.
You can eat many of the same meals without meat. Stir fry with veggies. Pasta with pesto or marinara. Cheese enchiladas (or mashed potato, which is actually quite nice

)
I can recommend these brands... Quorn, Boca, and MorningStar. Quorn has this really good chicken replacement that's chicken fillets. You can cut them up, bread them, and fry them. It's really good, even to a meat eater

Boca is good for burgers and sausage links. MorningStar has hot dogs and corn dogs. There's also a pretty good chili mix out there (one of those just add water and tomato paste, etc) with tofu ground beef, which is good for the texture. When eating this stuff, don't expect it to be like meat. Think of it as a new and interesting dish. Oh I forgot... Fantastic World Foods has a really good TVP sloppy joe mix.
Also have fun making Tofurkey for Thanksgiving. That's always a crowd pleaser
