Oscar not eating?

Sounds fine. Just keep it varied. Don't be surprised that at some time he just doesn't accept a food. They can get very pouty about that for no reason, and then 2 weeks later, start eating it again.

well so far he is behaving himself - he has eaten all his food and when i got him there was a little piece in the middle of his fin which had seemed like it had been bitten off but now it's healed up and is looking completely fine! i'm also keeping an eye out for HITH but i don't think he has anything...his head seems completely smooth.

omg!!! i have something so exciting to tell u guys, I went up to my tank and by now, suki recognises me so he swims up to me all the time - today, i cut up pieces of prawn that i was just gonna throw in, but then i tought let me try feeding him, see what will happen. so i dangled the prawn just below the surface of the water and he swam up to me and took it gently!!! i was sooooo happy lol. i did it three more times, basically what he does is go and hide in his favourite jug and eat the first piece he just took then he will come back for more!!! i can't believe i hand fed him around three four times in a row today - definitely worth all those water changes lolll

And now you know why us Oscar lovers..are Oscar lovers!:grinyes:

im getting worried about suki now...i was thinking yesterday that its been a long time since i saw him digest his food - i few him chopped up prawns yesterday and i forgot to check but after i fed him afew pieces now, his tummy is bulging...i'm worried he is just swallowing the pieces i am giving him but isn't really digesting any of it...why is his tummy massive?i wont feed him tomorrow and see what happens...whether his tummy goes down a bit...but if he is constipated what should i do?

everyone in my house has fallen in love with suki!!! but my mum got upset after she saw him eat one of the guppies in my tank lol. he is doing well, and has even started eating his hikari gold pellets. he gets fed tetra spirulina flakes in the morning, prawns in the afternoon and his pellets at night! on other days he gets bloodworms, tropical fish mix (somefrozen cubes thingy) and the cichlid diet (frozen cubes again) do you guys think this is a good feeding thiny? what else can i give him?
Sounds good to me hun!! They will eat just about anything :grinyes:

LOL, yes....yes they will. I had bought frozen silversides for mine when I first got him and he gobbled them right up..then all the sudden one day he just stopped eating them, I gave him other stuff for a couple weeks and tried again...he ate them up again. Did the same with the shrimp I have bought for him.

Hand feeding is great fun!!!! I have my O...a midas, a red devil and my starfish (in my SW tank) all eating from my hands...recently I got my pacu and my baby birchr to take food from my hand also!!!

I tell you what.. my oscars LOVE the Hikari Gold pellets... the other day i ran out of pellets and had to feed them sticks until i could go get more pellets... they were SO angry... i had to wave the bag of hikari pellets in front of the tank to even get them to come up, because they could recognize the containers!

it'll come around, no worries. :)

Peas can also help, though the odds are good you just over fed the aquatic pig..lol
