Vasectomy. Simple, permanent, painless (at least for her!)

Actually, you can never be sure about how permenant those proceedures are ....like I said in an earlier post, my husband's cousin became pregnant 19 years after having her tubes tied.....so....no matter what method you use, there is always the possibility that it will fail.....you need to consider that and be prepared for the consequences and what you will do....especially if you aren't married !

So, if you aren't married.....your best bet is abstinance....100% effective...works EVERY time and no stds.... :D

Oh...one other benefit to that method.......for the girls anyway........is you don't end up wasting alot of time with a guy who only wants one thing. ("If you really "love" me you'll "do it" with me" ) If he cares enough for YOU.....he'll wait !

Mykidsmylife - The pill and the patch also do not prevent conception, they just prevent attachment to the lining. I found this out after some pretty heavy research. I have been on Depo provera, the pill, Ortho evra, and now the low dosage pill. I would rather be on nothing because I can't find anything that works the way I'd want it to, but I also don't think my family could stand another child in a 600sf house. 2 toddlers and 2 adults is quite enough thank you. Gee, I never calculated it before, 150sf per person, less really if you consider room for the furniture. No wonder it feels like jail sometimes, birth control is much more humane.(Yikes, I really am a more positive person than that!) Thanks for the thread, I quit the patch because I felt nautious and hungry on it all the time.

No, the traditional birth control pill prevents ovualtion. Conception cannot occur. I'm not as familiar with the mini pill, but descriptions say that it works to make conception difficult and prevents implanatation.

I don't want to turn this into any kind of religious debate, but I am curious...is that why there is concern that it allows conception? I just can't believe that the drug makers could not have figured out this flaw before it was marketed. Or if they knew and they were that careless to not warn people sufficiently that is even worse.

point of view

Holly, you have to realize that many people do not consider a fertilized egg to be an issue. Even after implantation, some people think that the feutus is more a part of the mom than a separate thing. And if mom wants to discard part of her own body, that's her business.

On which one? The patch or the IUD?
I believe that the pill does indeed prevent conception. I was on the pills for years because of Ovarian Folicle Cyst. I took the pill to prevent my ovaries from releasing the egg therefore preventing the cyst. (I can see every man reading this..rolling their eyes and hitting the back button! LOL :p: )

And yes, the primary religious debate on IUD's and other similar controceptives is that it does not prevent conception..just implantation.

I think it is a very personal decision that every woman has to make. It is as personal as religion itself and this is NO place for that kind of debate. We
have to chose what is best for us and what we feel is right.

I also believe that EMG nailed it on the head...abstinence is the BEST form....of course I don't think my hubby would go for it. Seriously though...I agree with her completely! I think that it is a form of birth control (abstinence) that is not stressed or discussed often enough with teen's and single women.

LOL...MKL....mine niether.....but for those who are NOT in a position to be raising any babies....it surely is the BEST way to avoid trouble all around !...(not to mention all the emotional baggage that goes along with such a relationship when the two are not committed in marraige) It is sad that this message gets ingored and basically poo pooed and mocked....

By the way......"CHOICE" BEGINS WHEN YOU "CHOOSE" TO SLEEP TOGETHER"

Now THAT'S a novel thought !!
