The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit coalition of restaurants, food companies, and consumers working together to promote personal responsibility and protect consumer choices.

Again, I'm not a huge PETA supporter, but of course this group is against animal rights companies, it is supported by restaurants and food companies!! They are not unbiased in their opinions either

It was absolutely heartbreaking, but personally I would much rather have an animal put to sleep than confined for years to a 2x2 cell b/c it happened to land in a "no kill" shelter.
..........I would much rather it be the unadoptable animals to go first.

A friend of mine works for a local "no kill" shelter. She recently had an inspection by the county (the folks who fund the shelter) and one dog who had just arrived was a little scared. The inspector said they needed to "test" the dog to see if it was adoptable or not. After sitting in a cold cell for a few hours, they took the dog to an outdoor enclosure, had strangers run up to it waving thier arms and yelling. A shotgun was fired over its head, umbrellas opened in his face and water spilled on him. The dog was deemed "unadoptable" because it was frightened during the test. The dog was not aggressive in any way, cowering away in fear. I'm sorry, but if I was taken from my home and made to go through this i would be a bit scared myself. And I would love to shoot a shotgun at the guy doing the test to see if he reacted any differently. Oh and I ate hamburgers for breakfast AND lunch. IYF PeTA.

This is no surprise. PETA is just an unfortunate and misguided organization. I love what they have to say about speting and neutering animals, even those that are not your own...

Each and every one of us can make a difference. Please, make a pledge right now to take personal responsibility, not just for neutering your own companion animals, but also to neuter or spay every unsterilized animal you encounter. Is there an unneutered cat hanging around the back porch? Does your neighbor have an unaltered dog chained up in the yard? Is your coworker giving away a litter of kittens? Provide information on spaying and neutering and ask animal guardians when they plan to have the surgery done. Be persistent. If they make excuses, arrange to have the animals altered yourself.
I don't like any "militant", pushy, or extermist organizations. There could be militant omnivores that threw steaks on people's fake fur jackets and I wouln't like it. I don't mind Vegans at all, so long as they don't push their agenda on me. I don't mind liberals, conservatives, religious groups or watchdog organizations so long as they deal with facts and not propaganda to push their views.

It is unfortunate, however, that so many feel being the loudest and most obnoxious is the only way to get publicity and be heard. For every PETA stages protest or throws paint on fur story I have ever read there are dozens if not hundreds of cases of people working silently and anonymously taking in injured racing dogs, abused German Shepherds, stray cats, abandoned reptiles, wounded birds... These are the people that deserve coverage and funding as well as support from rich celebrities and generous donors. Instead Hollywood supports idiotic radicals like PETA. Go figure.

Could you imagine coming home one day to find your pure bred <specific animal> that you palnned to bread for show, neutered?!?! Or a show horse/race horse. Because you should neuter evyone elses pets too? and is PETA footing the vet costs for that?

In my apt building alone, I'd have to pay for 9 cats (live in 12 apts) to be fixed!!

I wonder what PETA feeds it's pets. Cats and dogs are carnivores (or is it omnivores? mine eat EVERYTHING!) so are they feeding them vegitarian food, buecause malenutrition is abuse in my opinion!

I totally agree with other posts here, so I won't repeat it all. ugh, ppl who claim such enlightenment are so in the dark.

ps they have ppl adopt things, yet don't believe in keeping pets? is that correct?

well time to revive this thread muahahahahhahahahhahahahahha

From their website:
"Since its inception, PETA has helped countless animals escape a sad fate arbitrarily assigned to them: a life at the end of a chain, in a laboratory cage, on a filthy feedlot, or in a stifling circus boxcar..."

So PETA's "humane" solution is to cold-bloodedly kill the poor animals and then dump them like they are garbage? These people are so twisted.
