Planted 33 Flat Back Hex (Many pics!)

Looks really nice! Ready to come do my stand and hood?

i have five long fin rosies in my tank and they are small (ok, i have an oscar in another tank, so all my other fish are considered small to me, lol!). but my long fins are less than two inches and they are mature. a group of ten or so would look beautiful!

maybe boesami (spelling?) rainbows and some loaches? a small to medium size group of each would do well in that tank, i think, due to the dimensions.

I really want fish under an inch but that setup does sound REALLY nice, tempting even! Is it time to setup another tank already!? :) Do you have a full tank shot with the rosy barbs? I am looking for something with instant appeal from a distance, looking at the tank as a whole.

from a distance the barbs are not that viewable. they swim quickly and dart in amongst my plants a lot. but most of my tank viewing is practically retina to the glass, lol, since i prefer fishy tv close up and in high def, hahaha.

all my full tank shots don't show the barbs for the reason above, and there are only 5 of them in a 55, so any full tank shots i have wouldn't show them too well (and add my crappy cell phone camera and less than novice snapping skills to the equation, lol).

Thanks for all the info! I am really looking for something that is out and about more often for this tank, like the white clouds. I've always liked the rosy barbs though, thanks for pointing out the long fin version...future tank? :)

Update - The red sea reactor is not working so I am on a mission to build an in line DIY reactor!

Just my 2 cents, I have long-finned rosy barbs, and I'll agree with BettaFishMommy, they're beautiful fish.
But--they demolish plants, at least in my experience. I have lots of anubias, which supposedly is too tough for fish to eat. My rosies can't really eat it, but they tear the leaves to shreds, especially the young leaves.

i'd have to disagree on the long fin barbs destroying plants. i have a range of different plants in my tank, from a huge amazon sword (toughest) to octopus plants (weakest) and i see no damage from the barbs at all, even on the youngest new leaves and stems. perhaps your feeding schedule might need reviewing, as the barbs nipping and shredding the plants might be due to them feeling hungry a lil too often?

How 'bout some harlequin rasboras, and some type of corydora? Then maybe a single angel?
I know you said small fish, but a super veil tail would look awesome in there with a school of smaller fish.
