Prisoners 'to be chipped like dogs'...

where would you rather have it?

well, i won't have it, since i'm not a criminal, but i think implanted INTO the bone mass, of, say, their hand, or foot. not just under the skin.

oh, and for all you 'big brother' paranoia types.. :wall: get over it. times are changing.

Giving in... one freedom at a time. Many people can be tracked hour by hour in their lives nowadays.

You log on to the web.
Your On-Star in your car sees you go downtown.
Your credit card shows you went to Starbucks
The camera in front of the bank sees you make a withdrawal
You make a deviation from your drive to work and make a phone call to say your late... triangulation shows you were at the bar.
Etc.

We love and embrace technology and when all these little things add up we find ourselves under a magnifying glass one day wondering how it all happened.

It goes back a lot farther than that. There was a huge outcry when Roosevelt broached the idea of social security numbers. Everyone in the nation reduced to a number?? Gasp!

I don't like the idea.

I think it'll just desensitize people into accepting the idea that it's OK to implant chips on certain people, and in time, it'll be more acceptable to implant people for other, less rational reasons.

I'm pretty sure my fiance had a chip implanted in my head when I was asleep one night...can't explain why I otherwise end up watching sex in the city and visiting home decor outlets at weekends.

what does it really matter? if there's no wrongdoing, then there should be no scrutiny. if there is wrongdoing, take your licks and move on.

The point is that there should not be the ability for such scrutiny if there's no reason to think wrongdoing is being done...You can't tap someone's phone without a court order (proving probable cause), neither should you be able to spy on their life.

but the things that are so easily tracked were not created with the purpose of people being tracked.. so as far as i'm concerned, if someone is paranoid of being tracked/spied on by the technology they use, then they shouldnt use said technology.

I feel the same way. The wasn't simply "no reason" why those camera's have been placed so strategically in the first place. Each trace has it's own reason. If there is no crime being made, why care?
