Problems with shipping fish?

Yeah not a real knee slapper for me given my wife had to open the box given I was at work, but like said, we kind of expected the worst.

Next day or 2-day guarantee is the only way to go with this. Wish I had known this. I *assumed* my first order with this outfit was overnight given I got it in less than a day. That was a fluke I guess.

If it helps, overnight is usually shipped out in the evening and arrives in the morning

Yeah, I didn't think so, but had to try. At least your wife is willing to help. Mine would take the box down to the fish room and set on the floor right in the middle. They'd be thawed and smelly by the time I got home.

Yeah, my go to vendors send in the afternoon and I usually get the fish by noon. Well, good luck with this bunch and any future shipments.

Which vendors do you use? I’m always on the look out for new trustworthy fish dealers/breeders

As far as I know, it's still against the rules to post an actual vendor directly to the boards, so I'll send you a PM.

I have had issues with things arriving or not. I had paid for overnight shipping on a giant betta and ups took two days to deliver him. He was doa cause he was freezing cold. The replacement betta just shipped out today and should be here 10 am. While another lost a package completely.

FF, I'm sorry you had a bad shipping experience but it's good your vendor is trying again with overnight. Good luck.

I've only gotten fish shipped a few times from small time operations or individuals, always 3 day Priority US mail. No problems even in the heat of summer (never tried winter). But that was back in the olden days...I'd be too nervous now even with overnight. 2 tanks going without fish but I'll wait...I'd really prefer to buy fish in person...

I thought it was OK to give vendor & product reviews...good & not so much. Joel, do you know? (yeah, sorta off topic again but not really)

It was nerve-racking for sure. My wife and especially the mayor of my household as we call him, my 9yr/old was on constant lookout. It was 20degF or less for days and I knew the heat pack packed with them was supposedly rated for 72hrs. The first package came so ridiculously fast, where could this second one be?

I do have a pretty large local aquaria group that I've never met up in person with, but in the pre-Rona days used to have meet ups, auctions, etc. That would be the place to buy from. I've always avoided it because it would likely get me into more tanks, which I really can't (or shouldn't) support.

CARD IS a dangerous disease.
